The Maintenance Manager, reporting to the Plant Manager, oversees all maintenance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and OEM standards. This role involves coordinating maintenance with plant personnel to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal availability for the SaskPower grid. The Maintenance Manager will handle technical issues, provide support, and maintain strong communication with stakeholders, including NBEC personnel, regulatory bodies, NPI team members, and third-party vendors.

This role is on-site at Northland's North Battleford Energy Centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure health and safety compliance for all NBEC employees, contractors, and visitors in line with OHSA regulations.
  • Schedule and manage maintenance work, coordinating plant and major equipment outages.
  • Oversee maintenance technicians, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Standardize and improve predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets.
  • Coordinate repairs and modifications of boilers and process piping with regulatory compliance.
  • Authorize and manage all plant maintenance activities.
  • Develop and oversee the NBEC capital expenditure program.
  • Manage third-party maintenance contracts for compliance and service quality.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives to address plant reliability issues.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, participating in audits and committee meetings.
  • Maintain plant performance monitoring systems and collaborate on data analysis for efficiency.
  • Oversee control systems, critical equipment, and ensure regular calibration and inspections.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, driving operational efficiencies and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing direct employees
  • 7+ years of experience in maintaining or operating power generation equipment
  • Proficiency in Maximo, the Asset Management program used at the North Battleford Energy Center
  • Scheduling experience and working knowledge of MS Project
  • Assets management experience in the industrial environment
