Civil Design Engineer

Job Description

The Civil Design Engineer will be responsible for producing in-house civil designs.

This role is hybrid, with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties

• Civil Design Support
  • Assist senior engineers in preparing site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management plans, erosion control plans, and other civil engineering design elements for utility-scale solar projects.
  • Conduct site due diligence research, analyze topographic data, and perform basic engineering calculations to support design development.
  • The primary focus will be developing 30% designs to service as the basis for our business development and estimating efforts.
• CAD Drafting
  • Create and modify detailed civil engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
• Code and Regulatory Research
  • Research and stay current on local, state, and federal civil engineering and solar development regulations.
• Project Collaboration
  • Participate in design reviews and collaborate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Documentation and Reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
  • Maintenance of accurate project documentation, including design revision/iteration history.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification or on track to obtain it.
• Demonstrated proficiency in civil design software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVsyst, or similar).
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, including hydrology, grading, and stormwater management.
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to safety
• Strong sense of urgency

Compensation Range

$92,000 - $115,000.00
