Job Description
WSP is seeking a Power & Energy Lifecycle Project Manager (Remote) for our Power & Energy Program Management Team in San Francisco, CA. The successful candidate may work from a mutually acceptable location within the United States, preferred locations include Oregon; Northern California; Southern Idaho, Western Wyoming; and Utah. You must have the ability to travel to a WSP and/or Client office for periodic face-to-face meetings.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing technical, schedules, quality, and financial aspects of Power and Energy Transmission and Distribution lines, Substation, and Communications site projects with a focus on SCADA and Telecomm as well as managing and developing client relationships. Responsible for the overall performance of assigned project(s) that are of moderate size/complexity and/or local/regional in scope, and includes oversight for financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. Ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are adhered to, delivered, and audited with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable corporate standards for safety, execution, profitability, and operational purpose.
Provides project management leadership for the development, execution, management, control, and monitoring of Power Delivery projects, including electric transmission, distribution, substation, and communication infrastructure. Ensures responsibilities across the full project lifecycle-proposal development, planning and project startup, project execution, reporting, and project closeout-are delivered, governed, and audited in alignment with corporate standards and client expectations.
This position is accountable for technical execution, schedules (CPM), financial performance, quality, safety, and client satisfaction on projects of moderate size, complexity, and regional scope. This role applies established project management practices to deliver consistent project outcomes while supporting company, regional, and business line objectives within a dynamic utility and Power Delivery environment.
Your Impact
- Participate in the development of project proposals, cost estimates, scope, schedules, and resource plans.
- Participate in developing the work breakdown structure (WBS) tasks and estimated costs.
- Update documentation within designated systems and processes, including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan as necessary.
- Assist with facilitating project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with Project Accounting to assist with monitoring and tracking project metrics, estimated time-to-completion, cash management, and budgeted margin for a project or an assigned portfolio of projects.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, cost and change management and control.
- Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontractor requirements in a timely manner.
- Assist with overseeing subcontractors, and coordinating supplier submissions, invoices, and payments.
- Immediately communicate and escalate any project site Health & Safety or client issues to senior PM staff and leadership.
- Participate in problem project reviews, providing input about root cause issues and potential solutions to leadership and other stakeholders.
- Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical area, and business unit managers. Liaise with the Procurement Department to closeout procurements and/or supplier agreements as appropriate.
- Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
- Develop sufficient financial acumen to understand project financial data.
- Remain current in the latest Project Management techniques and practices (PMAP).
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
- Working towards project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAP-M).
- 5+ years of relevant post education experience in a project management role within our industry.
- Understanding of project delivery process within the A/E/C industry and defined background and experience in project management.
- Competent analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen to bridge the business and project management.
- Capable critical thinking and problem-solving skills to make assessments and calculations involving the application of project management principles, with a sound understanding of intent, impact, and optimal outcomes.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
- Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adjusting readily to the changing prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
- Works independently with minimal oversight and strict adherence to QA/QC.
- Well-developed with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
- Effective at coordinating resources, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and others to complete tasks competently and efficiently.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $89,600 - $156,600
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $72,800 - $119,600
