Working alongside the prospection team to help to identify grid capacity across the UK’s transmission and distribution networks for renewable energy projects.

The Power Systems Electrical Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

  • Identifying capacity from 11kV to 400kV across UK’s transmission and distribution networks for solar, wind, storage and combinations of generation technologies.
  • Performing grid connection feasibility studies and working with other teams to determine constraints and availability of land.
  • Execution of generation and demand grid connection applications at both distribution and transmission level.
  • Perform the required calculations or simulations for G99 forms and/or DRC information.
  • Produce single-line-diagrams to support applications.
  • Arrange and hold connection surgeries with DNO,TO/ESO.
  • Maintain the model and script for site identification.
  • Review of grid connections offers.
  • Collect, update and maintain the public data information available on DNO, TO ESO websites.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Electrical Engineering (or Power systems or any other related engineering courses)
  • Proven experience in power system industry within the UK
  • Understanding of grid connection regulatory framework
  • Experience with electrical software such as IPSA etc.
  • Ability to work in project teams.
  • Able to speak and communicate effectively in written reports.
  • Preferably with DNO, TO, ESO or Consultancy experience.
  • Experience with Solar, BESS and Wind.
  • Knowledge of public data such as LTDS, ETYS, NOA etc.
