We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.
Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised over $1 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors SoftBank and Lightspeed to propel us forward. Our last prototype, Trenta, completed 10,000 high-power pulses and reached plasma temperatures of 100 million degrees Celsius (9 keV). We are now operating Polaris, our next prototype on the path to the world's first fusion power plant.
This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing
You will be a lead storyteller and strategist, shaping the external voice of Helion and driving high-impact narratives about Helion's role in the future of energy. In this role, you'll own the development and execution of Helion's external owned content strategy – partnering with company leaders, driving thought leadership, and creating standout written content that cuts through complexity and resonates with broad and technical audiences. This is an onsite role that reports directly to the Director of Communications at our Everett, WA office.

- Lead the strategy and execution of Helion’s external content, including social media, blogs, thought leadership pieces, and high-priority narratives
- Manage social media content and platforms, including developing engaging content, responding to engagement, and following industry trends
- Develop and manage thought leadership platforms for Helion executives, including message development, owned content, and platform strategy
- Work with technical teams to surface meaningful stories and translate complex, technical concepts into clear, engaging content
- Manage editorial calendars, own project timelines, and guide content from idea to publication across platforms
- Contribute to select media relations efforts and help draft messaging and materials for high-profile media opportunities
Required Skills
- 6+ years of experience in social media management, content development, digital media, or public relations; experience with innovative, deep tech companies is a plus
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a clear, engaging voice; strong editorial judgment for written and visual formats
- Proven experience crafting executive thought leadership and managing high-visibility content programs
- Ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible, compelling narratives
- Versatility across content formats – longform writing, blogs, and social – with interest in emerging mediums like podcasts or video
- Curiosity about science, energy, and technology – you ask smart questions and enjoy learning from technical experts
