Senior Analytics Engineer

At Haven Energy, we're on a mission to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies by helping homeowners install solar and battery systems. We specialize in deploying solar and battery systems to build VPPs through strategic partnerships with utilities, non-profits, and government agencies, with a particular focus on low and moderate income households. Summary of Role

Haven is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to own our entire data stack-from pipeline to dashboard. This is a full-stack, one-person data team role. You will be responsible for data engineering, data modeling, analytics, stakeholder management, and tooling. There is no product manager between you and the business; you will own prioritization, scope your own work, and decide what to build and when.

A key part of this role is building and maintaining a self-service analytics platform so that stakeholders across the company can answer their own questions. You'll leverage LLM-based tooling to enable non-technical team members to generate their own reports and dashboards, while ensuring data consistency and accuracy across the organization. You'll also own Haven's most important dashboards and perform high-impact analysis directly.

Your analytics will also drive our strategy for managing deployed battery systems to maximize savings for our customers and grid services revenue for Haven.

This is a remote role with a 2-3 day in-person meetup once per quarter.

What You'll Do

Data Engineering & Modeling

• Own and maintain our dbt models, data pipelines, and Snowflake data warehouse
• Ensure data quality, freshness, and reliability across all data sources
• Collaborate with software engineering to influence how data is collected and structured at the source

Self-Service Analytics Platform

• Build and iterate on an LLM-powered self-service analytics platform that enables non-technical stakeholders to generate their own reports and dashboards
• Define and enforce consistent terminology and business logic so that queries produce reliable, repeatable results regardless of who's asking
• Train and support stakeholders in using the platform effectively

Analysis & Dashboards

• Own Haven's most important dashboards and KPIs across operations, sales, and marketing
• Develop a deep understanding of the business and the metrics that drive each team's performance

Stakeholder Management & Prioritization

• Act as your own product manager: triage incoming requests, maintain a prioritized backlog, and communicate tradeoffs to stakeholders
• Work directly with department heads to translate their needs into well-defined metrics and deliverables
• Say no when appropriate and help stakeholders understand what's feasible given current priorities

Exploration

• Identify opportunities for machine learning, advanced data science, or automation that could create outsized impact
• Stay current with analytics tooling and LLM capabilities to continuously improve the self-service platform

You're a Great Fit If You Have

• 5+ years of experience in analytics, analytics engineering, or a hybrid data role
• Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience with dbt, Snowflake and Python
• Experience owning data pipelines end-to-end, including ingestion, transformation, and serving
• Experience configuring and managing analytics tools for stakeholder self-service
• A track record of working directly with non-technical stakeholders and translating ambiguous requests into concrete deliverables
• Comfort being the sole data person: you can context-switch between data engineering, analysis, and stakeholder communication without losing momentum
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
• Previous experience in a complex, consumer-facing industry (e.g., energy/utilities, insurance, finance, healthcare)
• Passion for understanding and impacting how energy is produced and consumed

Bonus

• Experience with LLM APIs or building AI-powered internal tools
• Previous startup experience (especially as a solo or early data hire)
• Familiarity with CRM analytics (we use HubSpot)
• Experience with battery storage, demand response, or grid services analytics
