Job Description

Senior Accountant is responsible for financial data management, journal entries, account reconciliations, invoicing, settlements, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements, internal controls, and accounting and analysis for the Clearway Conventional Gas Assets. This person will also be responsible for other ad hoc projects as assigned, which will cover all aspects of accounting and settlements for Clearway’s Conventional Gas Energy Assets.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform general accounting responsibilities, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations and execution of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process within clearly specified time frames, following established internal control processes and procedures.
  • Perform functions necessary to achieve an accurate and timely general ledger month-end close, including analysis of income statements, balance sheets, and equity and cash flow transactions.
  • Prepare monthly revenue invoices and ensure timely and accurate settlements.
  • Research and analysis of merchant energy activity and fuel-related costs (natural gas, transport, and emissions) in the CAISO Market.
  • Utilize financial reporting software to create, maintain, and update reporting templates and data queries.
  • Prepare and maintain adequate documentation to support financial statement assertions and the performance of internal control over financial reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly unaudited and annual audited financial statements in accordance with GAAP, which includes compiling financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules.
  • Work closely with other internal functional departments (e.g., Corporate, Treasury, Asset Management, Commercial, and Plant Operations) and external groups to ensure reported financial results are completed timely and accurately in compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as to ensure that the financial results are understood and explained to Company management.
  • Collaborate with and respond to ad hoc requests from key stakeholders within the organization (e.g., Treasury, Portfolio Finance, Asset Management).
  • Support the internal and external audits, which include preparing financial schedules, responding to data requests, and providing support for audit selections.
  • Perform all aspects of work with a high degree of accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field or equivalent in training and experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in general accounting.
  • Practical understanding and application of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control processes, as well as procedures over financial accounting and reporting.
  • Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, and savvy with respect to general ledger and reporting software such as SAP, HFM, or OneStream, etc.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Robust writing and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing working requirements.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives.
  • Exhibit a proactive and positive attitude in supporting company goals and initiatives.
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution, year-end, and quarter-end to achieve budgeting milestones.

What Would Be Nice

  • CPA and/or Master’s in accounting preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • Energy industry experience (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE), specifically in the CAISO Market is preferred.
  • SAP experience.
  • Onestream experience

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations

$83,000 - $107,000 USD
