Job Description
The Implementation Lead works within IT Delivery in Centre of Excellence. They will be a member of a Transmission Value Stream for the delivery of RIIO-T3 projects, which will include liaison with the other CoE teams across Customer Management, Regulatory & Key Systems, Work & Asset Management, Data & Analytics, GIS & Mobility and SMART & Network visibility.
The role will lead the development and implementation to a BAU state of business-critical process and digital projects within the Business Transformation Directorate. They are responsible for defining and monitoring detailed business processes and functional requirements, ensuring processes operate effectively and are used and maintained as designed.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the development of critical process and IT projects, linked to key RIIO2 output drivers and efficiencies.
- Be accountable for management and delivery of critical process and IT projects, to agreed quality and project timescales, demonstrating business value in solutions deployed.
- Lead engagement across the SPEN businesses to achieve input into projects being delivered and achieve buy in to the solutions being developed.
- Lead the implementation of the necessary changes within SPEN to ensure enduring processes are in place to capture and continually update the information requirements specified.
- Develop new and innovative methodologies and toolkits that will demonstrate value to SPEN.
- Responsible for the management of external analysts and support resource as required to deliver key objectives.
- Take the lead, maintain and develop data management systems, including tracking/maintaining and updating software, licenses, spatial data, metadata, review of software packages, liaising with existing SPEN IT & business resources and developing data standards within the company in line with the overall Quality Assurance systems.
- Further develop and maintain an Enterprise Architect model for all processes & systems within the SPEN portfolio.
- Assist Application Consultants in developing robust technical solutions to drive business performance in line with Regulatory business plans.
- Ensure that system related changes, including those managed through minor demand/change requests are technically evaluated monitored and controlled in the same manner as larger projects.
- Develop appropriate testing strategies to ensure any changes to systems are of a high quality and implementation is well executed.
- Gather and analyse information relating to data tables, process adherence and accuracy of reporting.
- Maintain WPB training materials to ensure alignment with any system enhancements or changes.
- Assisting Value Stream manager to ensure the long-term stewardship of SPEN’s processes and Systems.
- Accountable for the tracking and monitoring of the approved IT and project expenditure across any assigned projects, to ensure that milestones are delivered accurately on time, and in line with the CAPEX and/or OPEX cost profiles defined at the project outset.
- Assisting value Stream manager in the upfront design stage of technical changes and solutions, ensuring the broader SPEN IT architecture considerations are considered, as well as alignment to the strategic Data and Digitalisation roadmap requirements for RIIO2.
- Working closely with the project sponsors to identify resourcing requirements at different stages of the project lifecycle. Enabling team performance and productivity.
- Quality assurance of product delivery, including UAT testing strategies and execution, ensuring the desired outcomes are achieved.
- Owner of quality gates on behalf of the business.
- Highlighting risk management and reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing key stakeholders and steering groups at Exec Team level and may include Global Business stakeholders depending on the project.
What you’ll bring
- Ability to coordinate a range of business requirements into a technology driven plan, managing internal constraints whilst meeting business expectations. Experience of IT systems is required, preferably in SPEN.
- The successful candidate will have previous experience of delivering complex projects to time and budget, delivering successful outcomes and the necessary changes to business processes for implementation including reliance upon internal and external 3rd party service providers.
- A detailed knowledge of SPEN business processes and how the business operates on a formal and informal basis is essential.
- They should have the ability to translate data into management information and output measures. They should also be able to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges and in particular translating business requirements into working visual solutions.
- A good knowledge of standard IT applications, for example web mapping, analytical programming and data layers is required. They should also have a good knowledge of SPEN corporate data issues/sources.
- They should be able to build relationships, fostering trust and collaboration across boundaries at all levels within SPEN as well as with contractors.
- Ability to influence and collaborate at an executive and senior management level across SPEN and the wider industry, including the wider Global Networks Business.
Minimum Criteria (Desirable)
- Experience of managing projects.
- Experience of managing and influencing influential external and internal stakeholders.
- Experience in data process, governance and controls desirable.
- Requirement to travel within the geographical areas.
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment which SPEN operates in.
- Relevant utility experience.
- Experience and knowledge of a Transmission network business is preferable.
