We are looking for a Trading Assistant to join our strong and dynamic division to support our international strategy and our wholesale growth. We believe you are a great contributor to ongoing business development efforts and able to support our Portfolio Managers and Originators in daily tasks, especially in executing renewable energy certificate transactions. You are a self-motivated and professional individual who takes a proactive approach to ensure a high level of operational efficiency for the team members you support. Day-to-day responsibilities will include building a pipeline of potential clients in different European markets, communicating with existing clients, and collaborating with the commercial teams to ensure world-class performance for sales and delivery.

In order to achieve these goals you will demonstrate or develop proficiency in our internal portfolio management tools and holistic mastery of our internal processes. The tasks will be applied in support of the Lead Portfolio Manager you work with directly, as well as to drive success in cultivating new business areas and projects you are assigned.

This position is open to candidates based within a commutable distance of our office in Oslo, Norway, where you can enjoy a flexible, hybrid working pattern. What You’ll Do

Commercial Support:

  • Collaborate and support Portfolio Managers to execute an EU/UK-wide wholesale strategy
  • Assist the Origination and Trading team in collecting and recording relevant daily price movements in key markets
  • Create comprehensive customer pipelines and call lists in order to facilitate the origination of environmental commodities. Extensive account research to develop territory and account strategy
  • Assist Origination and Trading teams in generating trade proposals, confirms, RFP-related documentation, KYCs, and risk review write-ups

Pricing & Portfolio Management:

  • Engage with portfolio database to ensure all positions and price data are clearly and correctly reflected, including entering deals into the database in an accurate and timely manner
  • Entering deals to the database in a timely manner
  • Assist with deliveries, as well as portfolio optimization and allocation of REC supply

Operational Support:

  • Develop, manage, and improve tools that support origination goals (including KPIs to track performance)
  • Support and collaborate with Sales and Marketing on product development and sales enablement tools to address key market opportunities
  • Support cross-departmental collaboration between sales, marketing, and market intelligence to improve efficiency and visibility in the European market

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English. High proficiency in additional European language(s) will be regarded as a great advantage

  • Experience working with EACs (Energy Attribute Certificates) preferred
  • Proficiency working within MS Access and Excel front-ends; SQL Server experience a plus
  • A natural ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and proactively drive solutions
  • Team player with a hunger to learn about and build a career within environmental commodities, trading, and the renewable energy sector

How We Define Success

Within 30 days,

Understanding the Basics:
  • Grasp the fundamentals of deal write-ups and their role in the trading process
  • Understand key concepts and market dynamics in the renewable energy market
  • Confidently use internal tools, especially Artemis, for daily tasks
Building Relationships and Awareness:
  • Begin to build relationships with key team members, including the Lead Portfolio Manager
  • Gain awareness of the team's structure, processes, and tools
  • Initiate interactions with leaders and stakeholders for cross-functional relationships

Within 90 days,

Contributing to Trade Proposals:
  • Contribute to trade proposals, leveraging mastery in deal entries and accurate price marks
  • Exhibit collaborative skills in working with the Origination and Trading teams for efficiency
Enhancing Language Skills and Teamwork:
  • Showcase improved language skills and teamwork, ensuring efficient workflow with team and key stakeholders
  • Actively contribute to team-wide projects, demonstrating initiative and potential for leadership

Within 6 months,

Independent Management and Strategic Contribution:
  • Independently manage wholesale assignments and deliveries, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of the trading process
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with company goals, effectively managing the team
  • Actively contribute to team-wide projects, demonstrating initiative and leadership potential
Continuous Learning and Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and proactively drive solutions
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and development within environmental commodities and trading

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: The starting base pay for this position is 532,000 NOK to 614,000 NOK. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role may exceed the base pay as it includes other incentive pay. The base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future
  • Benefits: This position is eligible for a benefits package in accordance with the labor laws of Norway
  • Supplemental Pay: This position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs, including the company’s profit-sharing program and participation in the Commercial Sales Commission Program
  • This compensation and benefits information is based on 3Degrees’ good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future
