Job Description
Elgin Energy is seeking a Level 3 IT Support Engineer to support and enhance the company's IT environment across multiple international locations.
This role combines hands‑on technical support with responsibility for core infrastructure, security operations, and IT service delivery. You will be a member of the IT & Data Team and report to the IT System Administrator. You will act as a senior escalation point, contribute to major IT projects, and help shape a secure, modern, cloud‑first technology environment.
The ideal candidate has strong experience across Microsoft 365, Azure (Entra ID), device management, networking, and cybersecurity, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive technical improvements. This role is suited to someone with 4-6 years' experience who wants to deepen their skills across Microsoft 365, Azure, networking, security, device management, and IT process improvement.
Your profile
What you will do:
- IT Support & Service Delivery
- Act as a senior escalation point within IT support, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
- Lead problem management and root-cause analysis, contribute to major incident resolution, and support service improvements using ITIL-aligned processes and service desk systems.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, SOPs, asset registers, and configuration records.
- IT Infrastructure & Microsoft Cloud
- Support the architecture, development, and ongoing operation of the organisation's IT infrastructure across international locations.
- Act as a key technical resource for Azure, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID, including identity and access controls, conditional access, and secure cloud integrations.
- Cybersecurity Operations & Controls
- Support cybersecurity operations, assisting in the development and implementation of IT security policies and procedures.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents, support vulnerability management, and contribute to strengthening the organisation's security posture.
- Networking & Infrastructure Resilience
- Act as a networking point of contact for enterprise LAN and Wi-Fi environments, supporting design, maintenance, and ongoing operations.
- Participate in, and co-lead where appropriate, network and resilience upgrades including switches, firewalls, access points, and UPS installations.
- Endpoint, Hardware & Systems Oversight
- Support endpoint and device management platforms (e.g., Intune), including device compliance, security policies, application deployment, and patching.
- Oversee procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of end-user and infrastructure hardware across global locations.
- Employee Enablement & IT Operations
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding, deliver guidance and training on IT systems and procedures, and ensure staff can use technology efficiently and securely.
- Mentor junior IT team members, providing guidance, coaching, and support to develop their technical and professional skills.
- Lead and contribute to team knowledge‑sharing sessions, ensuring documentation, learnings, and best practices are shared across the IT function.
What you will need:
Essential
- Ideally 4-6 years' experience in an IT support or systems administration role supporting enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Azure identity services (Entra ID), including Windows devices and Intune.
- Experience implementing and supporting SSO integrations and identity-based access controls.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Wi-Fi, firewalls).
- Proven experience troubleshooting complex issues across cloud services, endpoints, and infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including MFA, conditional access, backups, and policy implementation.
- Experience with IT infrastructure, software licensing, asset management, and vendor management.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills, with experience supporting hybrid and international teams.
Desirable
- Experience working in ITIL-aligned environments and understanding ITIL-based service management practices.
- Experience contributing to or managing ISO 27001 or similar cybersecurity frameworks.
- Exposure to Azure services, enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam), and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics, the Power Platform
- Familiarity with corporate AV / video conferencing systems.
- Experience installing and supporting networks, including switches, access points, firewalls, and enterprise network platforms.
- Experience producing IT reporting, including project status updates, operational metrics, and service performance statistics.
