As the General Manager Finance at the SEC, you will lead the development and implementation of financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to guide the SEC's financial decisions and align them with SEC's strategy while ensuring all financial processes, reporting and systems are maintained and delivered. In this role you will have an opportunity to build and lead a high-performing and customer-oriented finance team to ensure service excellence across the organisation. This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell. This role is the equivalent of a VPS SES 1.

What you will do

  • Support with the setting of SEC's strategic plan for and prepare the annual and long-term financial strategies.
  • Coordinate and ensure the accurate preparation of SEC's financial statements, plans, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Ensure that SEC has available funds required for operational activities by managing relationships with the Department Treasury & Finance, as well as other sources of funding.
  • Ensure compliance with the entity's financial obligations and reporting requirements under State and Commonwealth legislation.

Who you are

To be successful in this role, you will have a deep understanding of finance. You are known as a collaborative and results-driven leader with exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Your capabilities and areas of expertise that matter most for this role are:

  • Advanced experience in finance with detailed understanding of financial modelling, reporting and regulations in an Australian Energy Business.
  • A relevant tertiary degree in a finance discipline is required with post graduate qualifications as a CA/CPA or equivalent being well regarded.
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing and customer-oriented teams to success through collaboration and engagement.
  • Excellent relationship building, communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and initiative and you thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Understanding of the operation of the Victorian and national energy markets will be well regarded.
