About the role

The Cero Asset Management team is responsible for the management of Cero’s fast-growing portfolio of European Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets, starting from the construction phase and throughout the lifetime of the assets. As the portfolio grows and Cero continues its growth journey to become an Independent Power Producer (IPP), Cero is looking to establish an active Revenue Optimisation function to manage our exposure to wholesale market risk and optimise our position within this.

Reporting directly to the Head of Asset Management, this role will be fundamental in building out a dedicated revenue optimisation function responsible for managing Cero’s wholesale market risk and associated analytics and reporting.

Main responsibilities

Your key responsibilities within this role will include:

  • Monitoring Cero’s wholesale market risk including undertaking and monitoring metrics such as value-at-risk.
  • Utilising software tools to monitor risk and analyse appropriate mitigations.
  • Develop and implement a robust wholesale market risk strategy and associated limits where applicable.
  • Negotiate and execute short term PPAs via RtM providers in relation to Cero’s uncontracted volume in accordance with Lender requirements and Cero’s risk and governance requirements.
  • Manage existing long-term PPAs (Cero has a separate team responsible for the origination of long-term PPAs) including contract management, analysis and oversight of settlement calculations.
  • Undertake analysis of market fundamentals (via information from 3rd parties) and analyse the impact of movements on Cero’s portfolio.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on Cero’s wholesale market risk and risk management performance.
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends and report this information to wider Cero teams.

What will you need to succeed in the role?

  • Have 5+ years industry experience of which ~3years+ experience in energy risk management/power trading/wholesale markets or related roles.
  • Specific renewable energy experience is desirable.
  • A background in engineering, commercial, financial or other relevant disciplines.
  • Fluent in English (written, spoken), other European languages advantageous but not essential (Italian, Spanish, Greek).
  • Excellent communication skills for dealing with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent coordination and organisational skills for managing multiple projects and tasks in parallel.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to distil complex market information to a diverse audience.
