Senior Sustainability Consultant

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned consultant with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our team and to drive real impact by inspiring action and delivering Climate Action Strategies for large, complex clients. Specific responsibilities include:

Client leadership

  • Managing key and strategic accounts (e.g. clients that need advanced consulting and expertise and where long-term collaboration is expected) without supervision
  • Leveraging strategic thinking to develop and expand key accounts by identifying growth opportunities and upcoming risks, and effectively positioning ClimatePartner as a partner across a complete climate action journey
  • Accountable for raising the quality of work produced across the consulting team, producing new templates where necessary
  • Acting as an expert in complex GHG calculations involving all categories of Scope 3, with capability to act as quality control for other consultants’ projects
  • Deciding on the methodology for the consulting work required where that work is non-standard
  • Facilitating the completion of end-to-end projects which guide our most strategic clients towards developing Net Zero strategies or setting Science-Based Targets
  • Designing and facilitating complex in-person or virtual workshops for clients involving multiple stakeholders and key decision-makers
  • Leading high-importance client calls, leveraging storytelling and emotively engaging communication to ensure messages land effectively
  • Responsible for ensuring high-importance projects are delivered in scope and to the highest degree of quality with risks predicted and mitigated up front

Internal leadership

  • Mentoring less responsible members of the team, joining others' client projects to share expertise, particularly where there are knowledge gaps
  • Sharing learnings from project delivery with the team via, presentations to the team and through the provision of shadowing opportunities
  • Championing internal processes, ensuring that new practices are embedded within the team by liaising with consultants, analysts and team leads
  • Engaging with research & development and digital solutions teams to ensure ClimatePartner methodologies continue to meet market demand
  • Acting as a thought leader, publishing technical content publicly whilst upskilling the team on their findings

Who You Are

  • You have professional experience leading large corporate customer accounts
  • You have professional experience in environmental/sustainability consulting, professional services or equivalent in-house role, or in a non-sustainability industry-specific role
  • You have exceptional communication skills and can build trust by communicating effectively with senior stakeholders and budget holders at a management and board-level
  • Strong project management, account management and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting and sustainability reporting (e.g. various GHG protocol standards (Scope 2 guidance, Scope 3 guidance, value chain, corporate standard))
  • Good knowledge of sustainability and carbon reporting (including but not limited to SBTi, CFD)

Desired, but non-essential

  • Good knowledge of ClimatePartner-focused industries and carbon accounting specifics that apply: food, textiles, cosmetics, logistics, investments, financial and professional services
  • Advanced knowledge of beyond value chain mitigation, green/renewable energy certificates
  • General sustainability knowledge (waste, circular economy, sustainable finance, biodiversity, air pollution, social impact etc.) desirable
