Basic Function

Provide paralegal and corporate governance support to SB Energy’s legal team and support growth of the platform, work interactively with the legal team, the executive team and other functional teams. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel and will be part of the legal and compliance team.

Responsibilities

• Provide corporate governance and entity management support as the business positions itself to capture emerging opportunities in the following segments of the energy industry: utility scale-solar, development and acquisition of new technologies, battery storage, etc.
• Assist in contract management and take an active role in review and interpretation of current and future agreements
• Manage and coordinate corporate governance, corporate reporting and subsidiary management matters, including organizational charts, statutory filings, business registrations, qualifications, dissolutions, and election of directors and officers
• Research requirements and best practices for subsidiary management and records retention
• Assist with the preparation and review of board materials and maintaining records for board and governance decisions
• Bring new ideas on the expansion of the business while evaluating software and other potential generative AI systems
• Support legal operations with document management and storage, technology implementation and usage and coordination with outside vendors
• Provide general support on company matters across all business and administrative departments; interpret and apply legal requirements to the business - in particular, laws, regulations, and rules relating to business activities, as well as implementation of policies, training, or other processes.

Qualifications/Requirements

• 5 + years of relevant experience at a major law firm or with a sophisticated in-house legal department.
• Strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, legal entity management platforms and related software
• Business acumen and excellent commercial judgment.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member; ability to set priorities and to respond to changing demands from multiple sources.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including ability to work independently; project management skills; ability to negotiate; ability to provide a high level of client service and build consensus across a matrixed client organization.
• Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to take lead on any responsibilities within the job description, with support from outside counsel and/or other members of the internal legal team.

Location

This position can be partially remote but candidates should be based on the Bay Area such that they can be in the Redwood City, CA office at least 1-2 times per week.

The position requires up to 25% domestic travel.

Base Pay - $90,000 - $120,000

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, generous Long Term Incentive plan designed with our partnership mentality in mind, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
