Your Impact at Ascend Analytics

The Corporate Controller will be accountable for the day-to-day operations of the company’s corporate accounting function as the expert in the principles of GAAP, internal systems and standard operating procedures. You will create controls, processes and policies that ensure timely delivery of accurate and timely financial reports, facilitate the smooth operation of all financial systems and controls, and support the rapid growth of the company while at the same time helping manage costs. You must have an entrepreneurial attitude mixing ‘can-do’ creativity with ‘roll up your sleeves’, as well as great communication skills and a strong sense of ethics. You must possess strong analytical skills, exemplary organizational skills, and a passion for details. Additionally, you should have the experience and ability to prepare and analyze financial reports, manage multiple projects on tight deadlines and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information are all critical in this role - working quickly and accurately is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP which must include ASC 606 compliance
  • Perform technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary
  • Manage operational functions on a day-to-day basis including accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting, payroll, and general ledger accounting
  • Optimize the accounting system and enhance accounting department use of software and integration of software into accounting processes and procedures
  • Timely, repeatable, accurate and documented monthly accounting close
  • Responsible for timely and accurate entry of financial activity into the general ledger system (QuickBooks)
  • Manage the annual financial audit process performed by our independent CPA firm
  • Maintain organized and secure records of financial transactions and supporting documentation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Manage cash and treasury; monitor daily balances, receipts and disbursements and work with FP&A to maintain rolling cash flow forecasts
  • Assist the CFO and FP&A with the annual budgeting process, evaluate business unit performance against budget and support the development of budgets to provide an accurate measure of financial performance at the GL account level
  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team, providing coaching, development, and performance management

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with at least 10 years of related experience is required
  • Previous experience as a Corporate Controller role at a SaaS company
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required; public accounting experience preferably with Big 4 accounting firm is a plus
  • Based in or near Boulder, CO or willing to commute to Boulder a minimum of 4 days per week
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction, and drive deliverable through to completion by deadlines provided
  • Ability to work as a team member, socialize ideas and build successful working relationships
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing accounting or finance personnel is required
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, set priorities effectively and problem solve, including early identification of issues/problems that may arise
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks
  • Prior experience in the wind and solar renewable industry is a plus

Total Compensation: $175,00-$250,000

Negotiable based on qualifications and experience. Ascend highly values our employees and often pays above industry average.
