Job Description

At PosiGen, we are passionate about providing money saving solar energy and energy efficiency solutions for people of all income levels. We are seeking an equally passionate Solar Electrical Apprentice to help further our mission through excellent craftsmanship, customer service, and a team-focused approach. The Solar Electrical Apprentice will assist the Electrician with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures related to solar photovoltaic (PV) system installations on roofs or other structures in compliance with relevant codes, site assessment and schematics. Duties may include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist Electrician in the repair machines or systems using the needed tools.
  • Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, inverters, PV panels or other components.
  • Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Place conduit, pipes, or tubing, inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using hand tools or power tools.
  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Electrical Assistant.
  • Experience in reading blueprints, a tape measure and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace preferred.
  • Experience in bending tubing or conduit and fabricating, assembling and disassembling manufactured products by hand.
  • Must be able to understand service or repair manuals.
  • Experience in evaluating information to determine compliance with standards.
  • Experience in performing safety inspections in construction or resource extraction settings and industrial, manufacturing or repair settings.

Base Salary

$22—$30 USD
