Job Description

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Senior Network Administrator is tasked with overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of Silfab Solar’s network infrastructure. This role demands a seasoned IT professional with extensive experience in managing complex networks to ensure high availability, security, and optimal performance. They will serve as the lead onsite IT team member for all support matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and implement network, server, and storage infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, wireless, physical and virtual servers, and cloud infrastructure to support business operations effectively.
  • Assist the Manager of Information Technology with strategic planning and implementation of IT infrastructure, services, support, and cybersecurity initiatives.
  • Manage projects as assigned by the IT Manager.
  • Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, ensuring seamless connectivity and data flow.
  • Configure and maintain server and storage infrastructure, including physical hosts, virtual machines, storage area networks, and network-attached storage devices.
  • Administer and maintain the Active Directory environment, including user and group management, Group Policy creation and enforcement, and ensuring secure and efficient access to network resources.
  • Oversee IT asset management, including inventory tracking, lifecycle management, and ensuring optimal allocation of hardware, software, and network resources
  • Monitor network performance and security, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, server, and cloud technology-related problems, collaborating with other IT team members and vendors as needed.
  • Provide L2 and L3 support and act as an escalation point for other IT team members.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other cyber threats.
  • Conduct regular network audits to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess business requirements and recommend network solutions to support organizational growth and scalability.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior network administrators and IT support staff.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in networking technologies and recommend relevant improvements to enhance network efficiency and security.
  • Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide training and support to end-users and junior IT staff on network-related tools, best practices, and security measures, fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness.
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN architecture and network protocols, routing, switching, and firewall technologies.
  • Proficiency in network security principles and practices, including access control, intrusion detection, and threat prevention.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Knowledge of endpoint security tools and practices, including antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR)
  • Proficiency with M365 Suite: Strong understanding and experience with Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration or a related IT field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the administration of servers, both physical and virtual, as well as cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience managing IT technical projects.
  • Industry certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, VCP, or equivalent, are preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
