The Finance Manager, Capital Projects is a full time, in person position, that is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting to ensure that capital projects are delivered within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen, project management experience, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for Major Projects, including coordinating with the Major Projects team in preparing detailed project budgets, developing cost models and updating projections.
- Project Financial Management: Track expenses and update cash flows and contingency usage based on project changes. Provide financial insights and recommendations to ensure projects stay within budget and achieve financial objectives.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with project managers, Project Controls team, senior leadership, and other stakeholders to ensure clear and effective communication regarding financial performance of projects.
- Compliance & Controls: Examine requests for budget revisions in partnership with the Major Projects team to recommend approval or denial. Support applications, reporting and invoicing for government grants and other programs.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses to support decision-making processes. Assess financial risks and opportunities related to major projects and provide strategic recommendations.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and planning.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 7 years of experience with 5+ years on program or project management teams, with a focus on major project delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle and project management principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel to project locations both within and outside of the US.
- Strong computer skills and experience with relevant software programs (Primavera, MS Project, and related PMS systems).
- Experience with stakeholder and financial management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
OTHER QUALITIES WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO HAVE
- Experience with capital projects in the battery materials or other chemical process industries.
- Experience with Project Management Information Systems (PMISs, e.g., Kahua, PM Web, etc.)

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. All positions come with a company bonus and stock options. The actual base pay offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the position is located.
