Job Description
Eavor GmbH (pronounced „Ever“), based in Düsseldorf, Germany, is a Canadian technology-based energy company dedicated to creating a clean, reliable and affordable energy future on a global scale. Eavor's solution (Eavor Loop) utilises deep geothermal energy and represents the world's first truly scalable form of renewable, controllable and base-load capable energy. The Eavor Loop can be used to supply both heat and electricity. With our technology, we offer many energy suppliers the key to municipal heat planning.
To strengthen our multidisciplinary international team at our Düsseldorf location, we are looking for a Drilling Engineer (m/f/d)
In this role you will be part of the Drilling team and will primarily focus on our project developments in Europe.
Your tasks
- Reporting to the Drilling Manager, you will l lead the engineering effort for multilateral drilling projects for geothermal heat generation in Germany
- Technical interface between global drilling group and in country project developments
- Provision of drilling programs for multilateral closed-loop projects in cooperation with international drilling team
- Remote monitoring and supporting of drilling operations on multiple rigs operating
concurrently
- Occasional visits to drilling sites for critical operations and meetings
- Track and implement lessons learned
- Prepare and present section look-backs and end-of-well reports
- Prepare detailed drilling budgets and cost tracking
- Liaise with the project realization manager and other groups to coordinate drilling activities with other activities on site and coordinate handover to the production group.
- Implementation of standardized drilling processes and technical procedures
- Provision of budget calculation for multi-well drilling campaigns
- Preparation of procurement and tender documents for materials and third party services necessary for efficient execution of a drilling campaign
- Participation in preparation of project execution plans and operational workflows
- Participation in design and construction method acceptance process and approvals
- Participation in contract and claims management for project developments. Ensure compliance with technical standards as well as compliance with corporate policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements
- Participation in new technology engineering and optimization
- Support for feasibility studies for business development opportunities
- Responsible for progress reporting of planning and execution of drilling operations
- Participation in corporate knowledge management systems and logistics optimization to support long term efficiency improvements
- Interaction with international team as well as joint venture and project partners
Qualifications
- Successfully completed Engineering Degree (min. Bachelor degree or similar)
- Several years (min. 5 years) of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a drilling engineering capacity, ideally in oil and gas, geothermal or other capital development projects
- Experience in the preparation of drilling programes and technical procedures
- Experience with procurement and tendering procedures is considered as an asset
- Experience using well planning software: Landmark Compass, WellPlan, WellCAT, ERA or similar.
- Directional profile planning
- Torque & drag and hydraulic simulations
- Basics of casing design
- Experience in geothermal or high-temperature drilling is an asset
- Experience in planning and executing drilling operations on wells with long (>2km) lateral sections and deep wells (>4kmTVD)
- Experience with whipstocks, sidetracking operations, multilateral wells and magnetic ranging operations is an asset
- Experience in real-time monitoring of drilling operations via electronic drilling recorder such as Pason or WellData.
- Experience in developing drilling budgets and tracking costs during drilling operations.
- Good understanding of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) equipment, operations and concepts
- Deep understanding of drilling concepts including: well control, BHA and bit design, drilling fluid design, hydraulics, hole cleaning, torque and drag, managing loss circulation, identifying and mitigating drilling dysfunctions, stuck pipe prevention.
- Familiarity with well reporting software, such as WellView or Strattix
- Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilites
- Fluency in German and English (both min. Level B2)
- Excellent communication abilities
- High degree of flexibility and willingness to travel
