Job Description
Enel Green Power is seeking for a Wind Resource Specialist located in Johannesburg.
The Wind Center of Excellence (WCoE) department belongs to Engineering and Construction inside Enel Power Generation. The department consists of a multicultural team with 30 people divided in 8 offices across the globe and more than 10 different nationalities.
The main role of the team is to support the development of wind projects from scouting phases till end of construction as well as Due Diligence activities. The aim is to enable Enel to maximize the potential of their projects and to drive cost competitiveness through the intelligent application of technical solutions.
WCoE needs to be fully aligned with internal and external stakeholder. Our main internal stakeholders are Business Development, O&M, all BoP disciplines as well as Procurement. With regards to the main external stakeholders are the different OEMs, banks, consultants and asset owner in case of due diligence.
This role is intended to enhance capabilities and increase resources of the Wind Center of Excellence team. The focus will be on providing technical support throughout the development, procurement and construction phases of a wind projects.

What you will do
- Design of measurement campaigns
- Design layouts manually and with algorithms to minimize project LCoE
- Full wind yield assessments for different stages of the project
- Design and coordinate the campaign for Power Curve Measurement test
- Coordinate OEMs to provide and align documentation for Site Suitability and Site-Specific Power Curves
- Align and verify the climatic conditions stated in the site suitability
- Negotiate with OEMs the technical part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
- Collaborate with Procurement during negotiation of the Turbine Supply Agreement
- Collaborate with other project stakeholders to minimize LCoE
- Engage consultants at different project stages to outsource some activities as well as oversee them
- Draft technical specifications for framework agreements
- Draft internal guidelines to improve procedures
- Concise and precise communications to board members during Investment Committees decisions
- Technical support during phases of M&A and financing
- Lead technical discussions with consultants during financing and BSO (Built Sell and Operate)
Who you are
- 2-5 years’ experience in renewable energy consultants, OEMs or developers
- Bsc. Degree in Engineering, Physics or Environmental studies (provided experience in wind resource assessment)
- Experience to carry out full wind yield assessments with the latest procedures
- Layout and measurement campaign design
- Site suitability and wind turbine technology
- Negotiation and coordination capabilities with internal and external stakeholders
- Europeans energy market knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in English, both oral and written - Italian and/or Spanish is a plus
- Knowledge of Wind Resource Assessment Tools (OpenWInd, Windographer, etc.)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of CFD, Autocad, Matlab and GIS are a plus
