Specialist Structural Engineer
Contribute to structural design at Vestas in Denmark, Porto, and Chennai. Develop innovative solutions, support departmental growth, and drive business initiatives as a Specialist Structural Engineer.

The Nacelle Cooler Top Sub-module (Department) is a part of the Vestas Power Solutions and the Nacelle Module, and we have sites in Denmark, Porto, and Chennai. The Module is responsible for the design and integrity of Vestas Next Generation Nacelles, and the Cooler Top sub-module is responsible for the development of liquid cooler panel systems and supporting structures.
Responsibilities
In the Cooler Top submodule, you will join a team responsible for the design of cooler top structure. You will be the front-runner in the generation and development of creative solutions to meet design opportunities and fulfill the product and technology roadmap. Your main activities will include:
- Understanding and specifying structural requirements to meet design and commercial needs
- Build models and complete analysis according to specifications
- Post-process and analysis of data with the team
- Systematize findings and communicate to relevant stakeholders
- Develop and improve methods, tools and processes
- Development of innovative structural solutions to improve the CT performance, reliability and cost leadership responsibilities include:
- Support strategic work and department development: both technical and behavioral
- Support implementation of business initiatives
- Understand the business and do what serves Vestas best across the values chain
- Act as a role model and share knowledge, guide and advise teammates
Qualifications
- Structural background: Mechanical, Civil or Aeronautics degree (MSc, PhD)
- Preferably between 8 and 10 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of steel structures, composite material and its specifications, including theoretical concepts
- Experience working as a structural designer is relevant
- Experience with FEM, especially Ansys Workbench and APDL
- Experience working with most relevant structural codes: Eurocodes, DNV, ASCE
- Experience delivering to projects - Way to Market
- Experience in industrialization processes – ECM
- Experience with component design and verification of the design - understand value chain development in collaboration e.g. sourcing, quality, manufacturing, transport, service and construction
- CAD experience, especially CREO competencies
- Programming experience in APDL scripting Python and/or Matlab is desirable

- Knowledge system engineering tool: requirement specification, DFMEA, Agile, etc.
- Great focus on detail and quality delivery
