Accounting assistant/controller (M/F/NB) – Wave Energy

Role

We are now looking for a person with relevant experience in accounting and controlling in a growing start-up company. Today the accounting is outsourced to an external provider, but we are looking for a person to ensure all costs are allocated correctly on projects, balances are kept in order and leading project- and finance audits. To be successful in this role you will need to gain understanding and knowledge of our company and product offering. This role is based in our Portuguese entity in Viana do Castelo but you will have frequent interactions with the Finance and HR team in Sweden.

Responsibilities

• Management of bank balances and prioritizing payments
• Upload payments to suppliers
• Direct contact with accounting firm to ensure daily operations
• Coordinator of external audits (projects and financial)
• Assist on project reporting
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese regulations
• Monthly bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Classification of project cost (allocation)
• Assist with payroll activities and staff cost allocations
• Monthly/quarterly reconciliation/controlling local accounts
• Follow up monthly closing of accounts with external accountant

Skills and Qualifications

You have a degree in Business Management, Finance or Economics and at least 2-4 years of experience in accounting/controlling and reporting in a fast-paced/start up environment. Experience/interest in innovative technologies and the renewable energy markets is meriting. We value strong communication skills and the ability to work in a small agile team.

You are highly proficient in business English and IT literate with good skills in Excel. Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills. A strong commitment to accountability, collaboration, and execution.
