Associate Originator, Environmental Markets, APAC

As a Renewable Energy Commodities Originator, you'll play a vital role in originating, managing, and supporting the trading of environmental commodities like RECs, Carbon Credits, and Clean Fuel Standard Credits.

This position is open to candidates based within a commutable distance of our Singapore office, where you can enjoy a flexible, hybrid working pattern. This role reports to the Singapore based. Asia Lead - Origination, Environmental Products. 3Degrees does not provide sponsorship and /or relocation assistance for non-nationals in any of our roles. What You’ll Do

The success of our renewable energy origination team hinges on a multifaceted approach. In this role, you'll wear several hats, from collaborating with portfolio managers on market research and trade execution to maintaining accurate portfolio data and fostering collaboration across departments. There are three key areas of focus including:

Commercial Support

• Support buy and sell-side activities such as:
  • Create comprehensive counterparty pipelines and call lists to facilitate the origination of environmental commodities
  • Generate trade proposals, confirmations, RFP-related documentation, and risk reviews
  • Conduct market analysis & research and track with market dynamics in support of origination & trading activities
• Originate REC purchase & sale agreements in close collaboration with the APAC origination lead

Pricing & Portfolio Management

• Engage with portfolio database to ensure all positions and price data are clearly and correctly reflected, including entering deals to the database in an accurate and timely manner
• Assist with deliveries, as well as portfolio optimization and allocation of REC supply

Operational Support

• Develop, manage, and improve tools that support origination goals (including KPIs to track performance)
• Support cross-departmental collaboration between sales, marketing, and market intelligence to improve efficiency

About You

You have experience as a member of a fast-paced and progressive team and you enjoy managing a variety of tasks. You have a natural ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and proactively drive solutions. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Experience in a fast-paced, high growth, startup environment and comfort with customer outreach
• Team player with a hunger to learn or expand your knowledge of environmental commodities, origination, trading and the renewable energy sector across international markets

• Familiarity with Tableau and SQL queries would help you be successful in this role
• 3-5 years of professional experience
• Individuals with a Degree in business, environmental studies, economics or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience have the best opportunity to be successful in this role

Within 30 days,

• Gain a solid understanding of 3Degrees' mission, business strategy, and the specific goals of the origination team
• Become familiar with the team structure, key players, and their roles
• Develop a working knowledge of the core systems, processes, and tools used by the origination team
• Build strong working relationships with your colleagues and key stakeholders across different departments such as sales, trading & portfolio management
• Begin to expand your knowledge of international EAC markets

Within 90 days,

• Demonstrate proficiency in core responsibilities like creating counterparty pipelines, generating trade proposals, and tracking market dynamics
• You are actively contributing to origination efforts by supporting portfolio managers with account research and trade execution in 30+ international markets
• You have acquired a strong understanding of environmental commodities like EAC’s Carbon Credits, and Clean Fuel Standard Credits

Within 6 months,

• Independently manage and execute all aspects of origination activities with minimal supervision
• Develop and implement tools and KPIs to improve origination efficiency and track team performance
• Foster and maintain strong cross-departmental collaboration to optimize origination strategies

Within 1 year,

• Consistently exceed targets and contribute significantly to the achievement of departmental and company goals
• Become a subject matter expert in renewable energy commodities and origination best practices
• Proactively identify and implement innovative solutions to optimize origination processes
