We are hiring a diverse team including engineers just starting their career as well as engineers with deep experience. The work location will be Houston, TX (Hybrid - 2/3 days in office). SENSING and BMS SYSTEMS

  • In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design, development, specification, and of ESS (Energy Storage Solution) Li-ion Battery Management System, software and controls. You will be the part of a team focused on the development of battery algorithms deployed at the edge and in the cloud to provide industry-leading controls and analytics. You will define and manage requirements with suppliers and internal partners and be both a technical leader and people manager.
  • Responsibilities
    • Design and release of BMS software and controls
    • Manage the field data analytics team in developing tools and methodologies to report on battery system operation.
    • Coordinate the development and release of BMS and analytics SW.
    • Working with SW engineering, developing HIL and SIL testing tools
    • Work with project/product management to track and maintain the schedule.
  • Education and Experience
    • B.Tech / M.Tech. in Electronics / Electrical Engineering
    • 7+ years in design and development of battery SW and control systems.
    • Experience with requirements management and test tracking tools. (Jira, Jama, Doors, TestRail, etc.)
    • Experience in and knowledge of Agile development methods.
    • Strong technical communication skills.
    • Passion for batteries, sharing know-how, and learning from others.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS

  • Responsibilities:
    • The design, release, and supplier production of high voltage battery components for battery energy storage system systems, including power cabling and connectors, bus bars, fuses, contactors, and other associated high power bussing components
    • Work with Design Engineers and/or suppliers to develop sub-system design
    • Prepare and document component technical specifications
    • Work with suppliers and manufacturing team to apply design for manufacturing and design for assembly best practices
    • Work with suppliers to meet design requirements, component timing, and achieve cost targets
    • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to solve development and testing issues
    • Support Procurement team in component sourcing activities
    • Manage supplier DFMEA/PMEA development
    • Support component change management process
    • Support design reviews and program milestone presentations
    • Support cost and performance optimization in component design
    • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks
    • Travel as needed up to 20% to business sites to assist with component related issues, testing, and qualification.
    • Previous Experience in the release of high voltage battery module components in energy storage or automotive applications preferred.
  • Skills/Qualifications:
    • B.Tech / M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering
    • Strong understanding of high voltage battery engineering
    • Experience in product engineering, design release and validation
    • 7+ years in product development of high voltage battery pack components or subsystems
    • Familiarity with CAD, and CAE and sizing high current bussing systems
    • Proficient computer skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
    • Demonstrated ability to create and share presentations to team members
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with local and international team members
    • Action oriented, self-starter that will take the initiative
    • Prioritization and decision-making skills

BATTERY SYSTEMS ENGINEER

  • In this role, you will be responsible for managing the design, development, specification, and evaluation of ESS Li-ion batteries. You will be a member of a team focused on the specification and evaluation of supplier-developed systems and components and their integration into Fluence stationary energy storage systems. You will define and manage requirements with suppliers and internal partners and be both a technical leader and project manager.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Responsible for hardware and software requirements development, working with Core Engineering, Project Management, and Product teams.
    • Lead and Manage battery system supplier development and integration into Fluence Energy Storage Systems including execution of supplier design reviews.
    • Manage and coordinate battery system development and validation testing.
    • Work with project/product management to track and maintain schedule.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the supplier system and solutions to be able to manage and communicate technical risks to the broader Fluence team.

PACK AND MODULE INTEGRATION (MECHANICAL, THERMAL AND INTEGRATION)

  • Key responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain the design of the battery module mechanical/structural components working and guiding design engineering and suppliers
    • Prepare and document component technical specifications
    • Work with suppliers and manufacturing team to apply design for manufacturing and design for assembly best practices
    • Work with suppliers to meet design requirements, component timing, and achieve cost targets
    • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis to solve development and testing issues
    • Support Procurement team in component sourcing activities

  • Skills/Qualifications
    • BS / MS in Engineering
    • 4+ years’ experience in Module engineering, preferably designing module components
    • Experience building and using thermal/mechanical analytical models
    • Highly tuned drive to win and deliver excellence under tight timelines
    • Desire to work collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment.
    • Experience managing components developed by third party suppliers
    • Proficient in ASME Y14.5-2018 GD&T with the ability to perform dimensional stack ups independently
