Your Mission

As our Director, Commercial Counsel, based in San Jose, CA and reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Products & Technology, your role will be pivotal in lead the development of our sales channels in the US and will provide general legal support on an as-needs basis. This is a truly unique opportunity to be lead counsel for sales and product management at a high-profile NASDAQ-listed solar company involved in some of the most significant renewables projects in the world. This role will interface regularly with Maxeon’s executive leadership team, providing excellent legal advice and counsel on a broad range of critical business initiatives.

Maxeon is prioritizing hiring a director-level candidate, but our team is open to considering candidates with the relevant experience at various levels. We looking forward to speaking with you!

Make Your Mark: How You Will Drive Change

  • Lead Maxeon’s legal team on all matters within our sales and distribution channels.
  • Support critical business transactions, the development of our dealer & distributor channels, and key marketing and financing efforts.
  • Apply practical experience to help shape business and legal terms, deal structures, and transaction processes for Maxeon.
  • Manage disputes and outside counsel initiatives arising out of the sales business.
  • Advise Maxeon’s executive team on key renewables and solar policy matters in the region.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain organization and with our technology team to ensure seamless execution of customer contracts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure agreements are consistent with internal policies, practices, and processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously refine templates, playbooks, trainings, policies, processes, procedures, and other tools important to the efficient and effective support for the business.

Essential for your Success

  • Qualified to practice law in the US.
  • Experience at a top law firm in commercial transactions for renewable energy components or in-house with a renewable energy company.
  • Experience with solar customs, tariffs, and duties.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and to engage effectively with all levels of employees and management, balancing multiple clients demands.
  • Experience building successful relationships and trust, both internally and externally.
  • Have a strong desire to learn the business and new areas of law across multiple jurisdictions and to function integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team.

It would be Nice if You Have

  • Direct management experience with solar procurement or sales for residential, commercial, distributor, and power plant solar customers.

The US base salary range for this position is $172,000 - $268,000 + benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Job title may vary depending on candidates qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
