Bright Power is seeking a Data Analysis Intern to join Bright Power’s Data Solutions Team. This role reports to the Data Services Manager and operates at the intersection between the energy analysts, the software development team, product managers and external data providers. The Data Analyst Intern executes tasks to increase overall data quality, lower data costs, and/or reduce friction throughout the data procurement pipeline. The Data Analyst Intern also regulates and ensures quality data flow into our core systems, allowing Bright Power to be confident in the data it provides to its clients. This involves tracking the status of active accounts, as well as diagnosing and fixing issues related to data flow and quality. You will thrive in this role if you are a fast learner, problem-solver, and an excellent communicator.

Please note that this is a paid summer internship ($20/hr) with a tentative duration of June - August.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving issues related to data flow and data quality to ensure timely data delivery
• Execute, understand, and adjust SQL queries to identify issues in data flow.
• Communicate clearly and provide technical expertise and analysis across projects and business units
• Analyze internal data to inform business decisions around data procurement and project logistics
• Track metrics and generate reports
• Create and maintain clear documentation for processes
• Use and provide feedback for data visualization dashboards
• Identify possible automation solutions for data flow challenges to reduce manual work
• Contribute to growth and operational efficiency of the company by making suggestions for improvements
• Showcase the data team’s impact and value aligned with department and company goals

Qualifications

• Expertise with Excel
• Experience with MySQL
• Familiarity with JIRA, Tableau, Python and/or Salesforce strongly preferred
• Familiarity with data visualization
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and tight deadlines
• Attention to detail and ability to iterate and execute incremental tasks
• Critical thinking, logic-based reasoning, and problems solving abilities.
• Strong work ethic and able to work independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in learning about data analysis, utility data, and how real estate companies understand and manage energy and water across diverse portfolios.
• Passion for sustainability and climate change mitigation
