Project Developer

Main purpose of position

Currently we are looking for a Project Developer in Bogota, Colombia to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Project Developer you will be responsible for the development and structuring of renewable energy projects from early opportunity through the development cycle to financial close. Your ability to structure and negotiate complex transactions, to lead external and internal development processes, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams is key to successfully lead the project to construction start

Main responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate internal and external project development activities including securing land rights, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights from utilities.
• Manage and control the budget and costs of projects in development
• Gather, check, challenge, refine, optimise and communicate the input costs of the financial model from all the departments of the company, and support the international teams to get local inputs.
• Assess the risks of the projects and update the risk register.
• Participate in bidding processes to submit bid packages in response to Request for Proposals (RFPs) from utilities and private off takers
• Reporting to management
• Undertake market reviews, analysing regulatory issues and policy supports for utility-scale renewable energy projects and contribute to improving the development strategy of the company in Colombia and possibly in neighbour countries.
• Support the negotiations with prospective development partners and assume responsibility for external relationships.
• Perform the due diligence of new projects for acquisition.
• Support the process and negotiations for project acquisition.
• Watch the market and identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Spanish. Portuguese is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Commerce or other relevant fields ,
• 3~5 relevant experience in the power sector, ideally from project development, environmental, engineering companies, consulting firms, power producers, public administration
• Experience with permitting of renewable energy projects.
• Good understanding of the Colombian power market
• Working knowledge and understanding of power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, and EPC contract terms and conditions is preferable, but not required.
• Basic Knowledge of business fundamentals and financial analysis
• Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including presentation software and Excel
• Desirable relevant Working experience and understanding of developing solar and/or wind projects, offtake arrangements, grid connections, permitting requirements, bidding processes and Project Finance modelling.
