Job Description
The Senior Controller will report to the Global Head of Finance for Projects and will be responsible for driving essential financial controlling functions within Projects. This role will work closely together with one of our regional directors and give financial and performance advise.
This role will involve handling mid-term planning/ forecasting and comprehensive financial reporting. By performing financial analyses and assuring alignment to the integrated KPI system, the Senior Controller will support decision-making for financial matters.
What you will do
- Collaborate closely with all team members in the Financial Controlling Team for Projects to assure an overarching and aligned financial analysis approach, enabling effective performance steering and leveraging of synergies within the Financial Controlling Team.
- Conduct financial controlling activities (covering actuals, budget comparison, forecasts, and mid-term planning), supporting the development and maintenance of comprehensive financial reporting. Measure and monitor performance based on an integrated steering KPI system, track and ensure realization of financial objectives across Projects.
- Provide accurate and timely updated financial forecasts and monthly outlooks (rolling forecasts) for the current year and mid-term planning (MTP) for Projects. Ensure alignment with group goals while at the same time taking into account regional differences. Support the effort to improve and facilitate the MTP process by leveraging synergies and assuring cohesive financial planning, together with the Senior Project Manager in the Finance Team.
- Challenge single entity planning in terms of capital efficiency, cost planning and feasibility.
- Assure timely and accurate actual reporting and commenting on a monthly basis for all single entities in the segment, assuring meaningful and cross-segment analysis based on main business drivers.
- Provide in-depth analysis on planning and actual reporting to identify underlying issues and flaws in financial performance early, enabling timely and informed decision-making to keep the business plan on track.
- Set segment standards and provide guidance, e.g. planning guideline.
- Work closely with Project Executive Team, regional director and corresponding regional entities by providing valuable financial analysis and recommendations for improved financial performance. Communicate with other Segments, especially Independent Power Producer (IPP) to optimize financial performance and capital allocation.
- Work on special tasks as needed, e.g. post commercial operation date (COD), consultancy projects, topics around growing our IPP portfolio, and other functions.
- Liaise with group controlling to ensure consistency and alignment with overall corporate objectives.
- Ensures cohesive financial planning and supports the Global Head of Finance in steering the organization's financial strategy and capital allocation by offering valuable insights and recommendations for improved financial performance.
What you’ll need to succeed
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Over 3-5 years of relevant experience in financial management or controlling, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- Strong MS Excel skills, knowledge of further analytical tools such as PowerBI is a plus.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic team player with getting things done mindset.
- Structured way of working, strong reasoning skills and good command of English.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills while collaborating effectively with international and partially cross-functional key stakeholders.
- Proven track record of former Controlling/ Financial roles and enjoys actively collaborating with various international stakeholders and integrating their needs.
