Solar Irradiance & Power Generation Forecasting Intern [May 2024]

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced data scientists and data engineers in forecasting solar irradiance and power generation for solar farms across Asia, using a combination of sensor data from Sembcorp solar farms, weather forecasts from web APIs, cloud images from sky cameras, and real-time satellite images.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing forecasting models using deep learning techniques, with a focus on improving accuracy by using transformers and generative models.
• Explore methods to integrate cloud images and satellite images to improve forecasting accuracy.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure that the forecasting models are continuously updated and optimized.
• Work with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms to manage data, run models, and develop dashboards.
• Conduct database queries to extract, transform, and load data.
• Assist in developing and maintaining documentation for all forecasting models and processes.

Requirements

• Strong interest in renewable energy and deep learning.
• Proficient in Python and willing to learn Pytorch.
• Basic understanding of deep learning model training, evaluation, and optimization techniques.
• Willingness to learn and collaborate with other team members.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
