Sr. BMS Algorithms Engineer

Lithos Energy designs and builds advanced lithium-ion battery packs from the ground up for use in high-performance automotive, marine and aerospace applications. We build the things we design and manufacture in-house, in California. Overview

As a BMS Algorithms Engineer, you will be taking on a critical technical role on the battery development team. You will be responsible for defining and developing various algorithms that are core to the functioning of the BMS. This role requires strong knowledge in battery behavior and performance, along with experience with battery modelling.

Responsibilities

• Developing algorithm definitions
• Working in a Model Based Development environment to implement and test algorithms using Matlab and Simulink
• Writing requirements specifications for BMS Algorithms
• Converting Matlab/Simulink models into target embedded C code using Codegen tools from Mathworks
• Working with peer firmware engineers to ensure algorithm code integrates properly into the larger code base for the main MCU application

Minimum Qualifications

• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree (Masters degree or above preferred)
• Experience using Matlab and Simulink to develop models
• Experience specifying or implementing BMS algorithms
• Strong mathematical capabilities
• Knowledge and Experience working with Kalman Filters
• 3+ years of experience in the battery industry
• Prior understanding of State of Charge and State of Health algorithms

Nice to Have

• Experience writing C and/or C++ software for an embedded processor
• Experience creating Python scripts for task automation and data processing
• Experience working with code generation tools is an asset
• An understanding of Lithium Ion battery cell dynamics and how they are modelled

Salary Range - 150-225K + equity - Dependent on experience
