The offshore wind market is experiencing strong growth, particularly in Northern European and Asian countries, offering significant opportunities for the development of renewable energy. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), a business unit of Siemens Energy, is a leader in this field. SGRE is responsible for the design, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of wind turbines and develops innovative solutions to optimize wind turbine performance, notably through the work of its product development engineers.
Junior NPD Engineer Role
We are looking for a Junior NPD Engineer to support our team in the New Product Development (NPD) department. This role involves working closely with a Solutions Owner to address technical questions, perform load comparisons, and provide support to component owners. You will be required to work with a variety of tools and scripts to extract and analyze essential information for technical studies, particularly using our in-house aero-servo-elastic code BHawC (similar to Bladed, Flex5, or HAWC2).
Responsibilities
- Run load calculations with BHawC for various configurations.
- Analyze and process load data: Compare loads and other parameters to support component owners' decisions.
- Use analysis tools and scripts (such as MATLAB) to extract and process the information required for performance studies.
- Apply critical physical analysis to the results obtained.
- Collaborate with different teams to understand the interactions between wind turbine components and different departments.
- Progressively understand the interdependencies between different departments and components as you gain experience.
- Participate in technical discussions with stakeholders to share the results of your analyses and help align between departments.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in mechanical engineering, solid dynamics, and aerodynamics: Knowledge of dynamic and static principles essential for wind turbine development.
- Proficiency in coding: Previous experience in programming (ideally MATLAB) is preferred, but any coding experience is a plus, as skills are transferable.
- Proactivity and curiosity: Essential qualities for exploring technical issues and proposing innovative solutions.
- Knowledge of wind turbines and their operation: A plus, along with familiarity with wind turbine control.
- Experience with an aero-servo-elastic code like BHawC is a plus.
- Ability to learn quickly: You must be able to quickly assimilate new tools and concepts and work in a multidisciplinary environment.
Location: Rouen (76) or Paris La Défense (92)
Availability: Starting November
