At 3Degrees, we are driving sustainable change in the renewable energy sector, and we’re seeking a passionate and dynamic professional to join our team! The Research & Analysis team at 3Degrees plays a crucial role in evaluating market and regulatory landscapes related to our environmental commodities and services. Composed of Market Analysis, Regulatory Affairs, and Data Management pillars, the team provides critical market intelligence, data support, and policy expertise, strengthening our position in existing markets and fostering growth in new ones. This Senior Associate role will lead policy and regulatory issues focused specifically on supporting and expanding 3Degrees’ European Biomethane portfolio.

We also welcome applications from exceptional candidates located in other European countries, including the Netherlands, UK, Italy, Hungary and Spain. The role reports to the EU Policy Manager within Regulatory Affairs and collaborates closely with the Biomethane Portfolio Manager to address 3Degrees’ key market priorities.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Associate, you will be a key player in analyzing policies and regulations impacting 3Degrees’ European biomethane market. You will collaborate closely with the Biomethane Portfolio Manager to identify policy-related risks and opportunities affecting our products and services. Working directly with the EU Policy Manager, you will contribute to developing strategic policy initiatives and help shape 3Degrees' voice in critical policy discussions relevant to our clients and business. Your responsibilities will include:
- Policy Analysis & Strategic Insights: Analyze, synthesize, and effectively communicate regulatory and policy changes impacting European energy and environmental commodity markets, with a focus on biomethane. Provide strategic insights to mitigate risks and capitalize on emerging opportunities
- Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy: Actively engage with government agencies, NGOs, trade associations, and participate in stakeholder processes to advance 3Degrees’ policy objectives
- Consultant Coordination: Collaborate with consultants and other industry partners in key markets to ensure effective policy tracking and successful influence on policy outcomes
- Representation & Thought Leadership: Represent 3Degrees at meetings with government agencies, stakeholder groups, public forums, and industry conferences, showcasing our expertise and leadership
- Content Creation & Communication: Develop compelling background materials and one-pagers to support internal education and collaboration with 3Degrees’ Global Business Solutions team. When necessary, partner with Marketing to develop external facing materials to support the company’s visibility as a thought leader and innovator in the biomethane market
- Policy Submissions & Advocacy: Draft, review, and edit compelling and impactful comments for public submission in various policy forums
About You
We believe that an individual with the following experience will have the best opportunity for success in this role:
- 4+ years of experience in energy and/or climate policy, with at least 2 years focused on national or member state-level policies within Europe. Experience with environmental commodities is highly preferred
- Demonstrated experience engaging in stakeholder-driven processes to achieve specific policy outcomes
- Strong understanding of key stakeholders, critical issues, and market trends within European energy and environmental commodity markets
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex, long-term projects while effectively addressing short-term requests
- Exceptional research, analytical, and communication skills (both written and oral)
- Familiarity with corporate renewable energy and carbon goals and reporting frameworks is a plus
- A strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a key driver of business success, coupled with a genuine passion for our mission
- A Bachelor's degree in political science, environmental science, economics, or a related field is preferred. Advanced degrees are a plus
How We Define Success
Within 30 days,
Develop a strong understanding of 3Degrees' business model, strategic priorities, and key stakeholders within the European biomethane market. Become familiar with the Research & Analysis team structure, processes, tools, and reporting mechanisms. Establish initial contact and build rapport with key internal stakeholders, including the Biomethane Portfolio Manager, EU Policy Manager, and other relevant members of 3Degrees’ commercial team. Review existing policy tracking resources and begin familiarizing themselves with key policy documents and databases.
Within 90 days,
Demonstrate a solid understanding of the current European biomethane policy landscape and its potential impact on 3Degrees' portfolio. Actively participate in internal meetings and contribute to discussions related to policy analysis and strategic planning, and provide timely updates to EU Policy Manager s related to assigned subject matter. Begin contributing to policy tracking efforts, providing concise summaries and updates on relevant regulatory developments. Establish initial contact with external stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and trade associations, as directed by the EU Policy Manager.
Within 6 months,
Independently conduct in-depth analysis of specific policy issues and provide actionable insights to the Biomethane Portfolio Manager and EU Policy Manager. Contribute to the development of strategic policy initiatives and advocacy plans related to the European biomethane market. You are leading external conversations with key stakeholders, such as AIB, ERGAR, EBA, representing 3Degrees priorities. Begin drafting initial content for external communications, such as blog posts, white papers, or policy submissions, under the guidance of the Marketing team and EU Policy Manager.
Within 1 year,
Lead the analysis of key policy developments and effectively communicate their implications to internal stakeholders. Proactively identify emerging policy risks and opportunities and develop strategic recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities. Represent 3Degrees at external meetings, conferences, and stakeholder forums, effectively communicating the company's policy positions and expertise. Independently draft and finalize high-quality content for external communications, contributing to 3Degrees' thought leadership and visibility in the European biomethane market. Demonstrate successful collaboration with external consultants, ensuring effective policy tracking and achievement of desired policy outcomes.
