Senior Backend Engineer

Svea Solar is on the verge of transforming how we manage energy with just the click of a button. We're here to help our customers make the most of their energy usage while also balancing the energy grid with smart, innovative solutions. To bring this vision to life, we're expanding our engineering team and are on the lookout for our next Backend Engineer.

About the role & the team

As a Backend Engineer, you'll join our Sunbeam Labs, where we're creating digital services that range from energy optimization to virtual power plants. You'll work closely with a talented and energetic team of engineers and domain experts, all focused on building cutting-edge software solutions that make energy optimization a reality for our customers.

In this role, you'll be involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle, from brainstorming ideas to deployment and ongoing maintenance. Since we're pioneering services that haven't existed before, there's plenty of room for discovery and problem-solving! You'll be working with thousands of connected devices that we control in real-time, based on measurements taken multiple times per second. Your daily challenges might include figuring out how to distribute work among devices, handling AWS datacenter failovers without a hitch, counting milliseconds and megawatts, and even predicting tomorrow's sunshine.

Are we a match?

At Svea Solar, we're all about our values, and we want to make sure they resonate with you too. We're looking for a Backend Engineer who's not just experienced, but who's also passionate about end-to-end development. We're less concerned with how many years you've been working and more interested in your skills, mindset, and enthusiasm. You should be comfortable with architecture styles and APIs (like REST or RPC) and have strong communication skills with a proactive attitude.

Here's what we're looking for:

• Experience as a Backend Developer (preferably with .NET)
• A solid understanding of architecture styles and APIs
• Great communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

• Knowledge of cloud technologies (we use AWS)
• Experience in the energy sector
• Experience with Kubernetes and Docker

• Experience working with physical devices

We are a hybrid team that meets at our office in Alvik Strand 3 times a week.
