About the role
Leverage your expertise in materials technology, including concrete mix design and protective surface coatings, to support the delivery of our Strategic Asset Management Plan. Your role will involve applying best-practice asset management principles and maintaining in-depth knowledge of materials technology to identify and implement suitable solutions for preserving aging civil infrastructure to keep them operating for another 100 years!
Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting inspections, investigations, and assessments to evaluate asset condition.
- Developing and reviewing technical standards, work instructions, and procedures.
- Providing technical and practical input for the remediation and maintenance of our civil assets.
- Preparing briefs for internal and external consultants and managing the delivery of consulting services.

Who are you?
With extensive experience in materials technology, particularly in concrete, steel, and protective surface coatings, you hold a relevant engineering qualification (degree, associate degree or diploma). Affiliations with professional bodies such as the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA) or the Concrete Institute of Australia (CIA) are desirable, and additional certifications—such as NACE Coating Inspector Level 1 or ACA certification—would be advantageous.
With a minimum of five years’ experience, you have strong expertise in concrete mix design, product selection, protective coatings, and repairs ranging from small to large-scale concrete restoration. A solid understanding of corrosion, cathodic protection, and alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR) is essential.
Additionally, you possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment, and strong computer literacy for developing and maintaining operational procedures and standards. A current manual driver’s license is required, as travel to site will be necessary.
