You will play an important role in

This is a fly-in, fly-out facility, which is normally a 2 week on, 2 week off rotation.

Boralex is seeking a Fly-In Fly-Out Hydro Supervisor. This person will report to the Hydro Director and supervise a team of hydro operators.

Your role and responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Mobility is required for this position.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership in health and safety.
  • Supervise, develop and mobilize teams on site.
  • Ensure the availability of assets, the development and proper functioning of teams (preventive maintenance, inspection tours).
  • Ensure the proper functioning of sites outside working hours (on-call).
  • Ensure regulatory monitoring (environment, electrical control, etc.).
  • Participate in the development of the budget and the proper management of financial resources.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure a field presence with the teams.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of assets, processes and work procedures.
  • Maintain professional and trusting relationships with various stakeholders in the community to achieve business objectives (local populations, elected officials, suppliers, subcontractors).

To succeed in this position, you need

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical/mechanical engineering is preferred or any other related training.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in team management or in hydroelectricity or renewable energy (asset).
  • Ability to work in remote locations and be away from home for extended periods of time (2 weeks) in a remote and isolated community.
  • Be in excellent physical condition.
  • Possesses a class 3 drivers license and level 1 First Aid.
  • Must have a Red Seal Electrician's ticket.
  • Recognized for your active listening and is an excellent communicator.
  • Able to make decisions quickly.
  • Good leadership skills and enjoy being on the field with your team.
  • Good knowledge techniques.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Nature and the great outdoors make you vibrate.
