As the Accounting Manager on our collaborative team, you will be instrumental in maintaining sound financial procedures and ensuring financial compliance. We are looking for a detail-oriented and supportive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment. In this role, you will contribute to the effectiveness of our Accounting function. Join us in making a tangible impact in the renewable energy and climate solutions sector.
This is a full-time role reporting to the Corporate Controller. We value camaraderie and the benefits of in-person connection. We prefer candidates to join us in a voluntary flexible hybrid work environment in one of our offices in San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR. Highly qualified candidates located in the Central time zone of the United States may also be considered.

What You’ll Do
- Support various aspects of our accounting and reporting process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and contributing to the monthly balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis
- Assist in the identification, evaluation, and implementation of finance systems infrastructure and reporting needs to support business growth and drive scalable tools and mechanisms, including the automation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue recognition processes
- Contribute to the preparation of the annual financial statement reporting package in compliance with US GAAP
- Support the interim and annual financial statement audit by preparing supporting documentation for the audit teams
- Assist in coordinating international and domestic tax and compliance-related requirements; liaise with external advisors to provide necessary information for compliance
- Perform initial reviews of non-standard contracts and provide input on accounting treatment
- Prepare draft accounting memorandums to document the accounting position and conclusions reached
- Conduct research on accounting literature related to new business initiatives, contracts, and/or transactions, including areas such as revenue (ASC 606) and financial instruments
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls related to our accounting systems, including NetSuite, and contribute to strengthening existing controls
- Serve as a collaborative team member, providing support and acting as a resource for teammates as needed
- Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy and compliance
- Identify areas for improvement in work papers and processes and suggest process enhancements
- Prepare and post journal entries related to our Singapore business operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with both US GAAP and relevant local requirements
- Support the APAC financial reporting requirements and contribute to the bridge walk process between US GAAP and Singaporean accounting practices
About You
You have a solid foundation as an accounting professional with progressive accounting experience. You are capable of accurately maintaining a general ledger and understand Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You are detail-oriented, possess good communication, organizational, and analytical skills, and are eager to contribute your expertise to a Benefit Corporation focused on climate change.
Candidates with the following qualifications will be well aligned for this role:
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience working for a global company
- 2-3 years of audit processes and the preparation of supporting documentation
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and relevant accounting standards
- CPA or equivalent
- Experience with ERP and/or cloud-based accounting software (i.e., Xero, Expensify, Adaptive, or similar)
- Experience applying international financial reporting regulations and standards in a professional setting
- High proficiency in Excel/G-Sheet
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, in both verbal and written formats
- Experience working with international currencies
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Good problem-solving and time management skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- Interest in renewable energy helpful
How We Define Success
The Accounting Manager will be considered successful in this role by achieving the following deliverables:
Within 30 days,
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's business model, strategic priorities, and the renewable energy/climate solutions sector
- Gain familiarity with the accounting team structure, key personnel, and cross-functional relationships with other departments
- Establish a solid understanding of the current accounting systems, processes, and tools, including NetSuite, Xero, Expensify, and Adaptive
- Begin building relationships with key stakeholders, including the Corporate Controller, and internal/external auditors
Within 90 days,
- Independently prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Contribute effectively to the monthly balance sheet and income statement fluctuation analysis, identifying key drivers
- Assist in the implementation of finance systems infrastructure, focusing on automation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue recognition processes
- Support the preparation of supporting documentation for interim financial statement audits
Within 6 months,
- Play a key role in the preparation of the annual financial statement reporting package in accordance with US GAAP
- Develop and implement process improvements for work papers and accounting procedures, increasing efficiency and accuracy
- Proactively identify and evaluate finance systems and reporting needs to support business growth
- Contribute to the development and implementation of internal controls related to accounting systems
Within 1 year,
- Effectively manage the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery
- Independently conduct research on accounting literature related to new business initiatives, contracts, and/or transactions (e.g., ASC 606)
- Coordinate international and domestic tax and compliance-related requirements, working with external advisors as needed
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize accounting processes and support the company's long-term financial goals
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: The starting base pay range for this position is $99,930.00 to $135,200.00 the US. Base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands

- Supplemental Pay: This position may be eligible to participate in discretionary bonus programs based on personal, department and company goals
