Job Description
You’ll be at the forefront of the UK’s renewable energy transition, making a real difference for our customers and our planet! Working with a team of energy experts - this is a great opportunity to use your expertise to deliver real commercial and climate value, in an exciting and expanding industry.
Where you’ll work
For this role, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least twice a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.
You’ll be assigned to our Bristol, where each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

Working within OVO’s Energy function, this role sits within the Renewable Energy Team. We’re a team at the forefront of the energy transition, leading the charge to bring more renewable energy to our customers. This role sits within a team of experts on domestic renewable energy - who are leading OVO’s work to develop market leading propositions and tariffs for customers with renewable generation technology like solar panels at home.
This role in a nutshell
You’ll be responsible for managing the accounts of some of our largest renewable generation customers. You’ll build brilliant long term relationships, by developing a deep understanding of the needs of these customers, and always working to deliver the best customer outcome. This is a brilliant role for anyone with a passion for providing great customer experience, and would suit someone looking to expand their experience or develop their career in the renewable energy sector.
Your key outcomes will be
- Operating as the main point of contact for commercial generators, you will develop and maintain long term relationships with commercial generators to deliver a first class customer experience.
- You will operate processes efficiently and accurately to ensure that we get things right for our customers first time, and always look for ways to improve outcomes for our customers.
- When issues arise - you will work to solve them proactively and comprehensively first time.
- You will embed customers at the heart of our processes and continuously seek out ways to improve and develop processes to better serve our customers.
- You will develop an understanding of our contractual obligations and ensure we adhere to these in our processes and communications with our customers.
- You’ll be responsible for planning and delivering your own workload within agreed timeframes.
- You will prepare reports on key metrics associated with the customer base highlighting any areas of focus and potential risks or improvements (with support from team analysts).
- You will collect and analyse data concerning generator behavior to understand changing needs (with support from team analysts).
- You will coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders across the business to ensure consistent service levels.
You’ll be a successful Commercial Account Manager at OVO if you…
- Have a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Are able to create and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
- Have an inquisitive mind, and a drive to understand and solve problems for customers first time.
- Are able to manage and motivate yourself to power through actions, and be proactive in suggesting ways to continually improve our processes.
- You have experience working in a customer facing role - ideally with commercial/B2B customers.
- Are confident working in a complex, fast-paced, progressive environment.
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have demonstrable high attention to detail.
- Are comfortable self-managing your workload and identifying priority tasks.
- Are collaborative and enjoy working with others to deliver optimal results.
You won’t like this role if you…
- Are unwilling to learn and adapt as our customer base and technologies evolve.
- Are uncomfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Let’s talk about what’s in it for you
We’ll pay you between £33,050 - £38,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.
You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
