High Impact Financial Analysis is a Certified B Corp® that provides underwriting, portfolio management, and data analytics services to mission-driven lenders and investors. We have an exciting full-time, remote or in-office opportunity available for a Commercial Credit Underwriter ("Underwriter") in community development finance. The Underwriter will enjoy significant variety in the types of loans and clients that they interact with. Candidates with more experience may be considered for the Senior Underwriter, rather than Underwriter, position.
High Impact clients include Community Development Financial Institutions ("CDFIs"), philanthropic foundations, government entities, and green banks located across the U.S. Our staff is unified behind the core values that influence all aspects of our operations: empathy and support, everyone has a seat at the table, being solutions-oriented, and believing in social impact.

Soft Skills
- High degree of empathy in interpersonal relations and effective at supporting junior staff.
- Effective at participating in and fostering an environment of inclusion and transparency.
- Strong commitment to using professional skills to create positive social impact.
- Solutions-oriented approach to day-to-day work and internal and external operations.
- Very strong written and oral communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Good self-awareness and ability to show humility and willingness to learn.
Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or a business degree with a concentration in finance, or a combination of other education with relevant professional experience.
Salary and Benefits
This position's salary ranges from $80,000 - $115,000, dependent on experience, with the upper end of the range requiring CDFI-specific experience in relevant asset classes. The Underwriter range will generally span from $80,000 to $95,000, while the Senior Underwriter range will generally span from $95,000 to $115,000. Benefits include a 401(k) with a 5% match; paid time off; profit share; and a company contribution to health insurance through an HRA. We offer 10 standard holidays and 18 PTO days (with more based on years with the firm), and every first Friday of the month is a company holiday as well-we want our staff to be able to strike a good work-life balance as we work hard to support our mission of community development.
Location and Travel
The position may work out of our Albany, NY office or may work fully remotely or hybrid. We currently have 5 hybrid staff and 5 fully remote staff.
Travel may be required for this position 1-3 times per year.
Our Culture
High Impact is a flexible, dynamic, and participative organization that lives its four core values of social impact, giving everyone a seat at the table, being solutions-oriented, and offering empathy and support. High Impact recognizes the importance of autonomy and flexibility, and supports these values by holding no internal meetings on Fridays to allow time for deep work, having a clear communication policy that preserves non-working hours, offering flexibility in work schedules, and providing opportunities for profit sharing, regular training, and ongoing opportunities to grow within the firm.
High Impact's work environment provides broader and more invigorating opportunities than working within traditional lending institutions because of the diverse types of lending and markets its clients serve across multiple states, the consultative nature of the relationship with clients founded on trust and industry-specific expertise, and opportunities to provide input that helps improve clients' internal operations. In addition, High Impact's staff size of 10-15 provides employees with a unique opportunity to influence the future of the organization.
Application Information
To be considered for this position, qualified candidates are required to submit a resume and cover letter by August 25, 2026. Resumes submitted without a cover letter will not be reviewed.
