Summary:

The Director, Operations & Maintenance manages and leads the day-to-day operation of RES Operational Assets, as directed, to achieve the planned business objective. Manage, conduct activities, and lead employees in an office or Field environment to ensure contractual compliance of the assigned facilities. This role provides professional guidance to employees, contractors, regulatory entities and teammates for reporting, system analysis, maintenance and repair, unplanned outages, as well as any other requirement for RES operational sites.

Requirements

  • Manages safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the generation asset, in accordance with industry standards, agreed contracts, operating plans, and within budget.
  • Manages staff and subcontractors in performing Operations & Maintenance on site.
  • Have operational knowledge of the SCADA systems and program for Operational Assets, to ensure proper plant production.
  • Ensures timely facility repairs and restarts after plant outages or equipment faults.
  • Coordinates, communicates, and complies with Owners, off-takers, and transmission providers regarding the grid, production, contractual, regulatory, and outage issues.
  • Manages self and team to troubleshoot and/or coordinate repairs on AC, DC, Communications, Inverters, Solar Arrays, Wind Turbines, and Energy Storage systems commonly found in utility scale renewable energy projects.
  • Utilizes RES Asset Management tools to create regular periodic reports and in-depth analysis.
  • Reads, understands, interprets, with the ability to negotiate complicated contracts for contractors, off-takers, owners, and partners of utility scale renewable energy facilities.
  • Manages employee/contractor performance, safety, and quality as required.
  • Manages, completes, or assists with NERC compliance reports, with Owners, Site managers, and RES Support Service as required.
  • Ensures timely submittal of all periodic reporting to include Monthly, Annual reporting to RES, clients, regulatory agencies, owners, landowners, off-taker, community, authorities, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Manages operational and HSQE procedures.
  • Writes JSA, procedures and work instructions as needed.
  • Manages tracking of failures, alarms, downtime, maintenance and repairs, plant status and trends, and HSQE issues.
  • Uses and directs others to use a CMMS system for maintenance tracking, SCADA, and other software control and diagnostic systems.
  • Maintains databases of faults and maintenance/performance issues.
  • Alerts the VP, Asset Managers, and RES Engineers of emerging faults and issues, required maintenance, or retrofits.
  • Identifies and appraises plant improvement opportunities.
  • Leads and attends regular weekly meetings.
  • Works with VP, Site Managers, Asset Managers, Accounting, and Finance to develop and execute budgets.
  • Advises the VP, Site Manager, and Asset Manager of short to medium term forecasted costs and changes in expected budgets.
  • Reviews invoices and costs charged to the assets are correct.
  • Works with AP to ensure prompt and correct payments are made.
  • Works with Accounting representative to ensure invoices and time are coded correctly.
  • Approves timesheet information and allocation if required.
  • Establishes quality relationships with employees, teammates, clients, owners, landowner, community, local authority, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Provides relief management or operational support as requested.
  • Performs any other tasks as directed by management.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.

  • Leads and supports the site in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.
  • Reports unsafe conditions while protecting employees and equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school/GED General Education (or equivalent 5 years of experience required.
  • Associates’ Degree Operations or related field (or equivalent 5 years of experience required.
  • Certification OSHA, crane safety or HV preferred.
  • 5+ years or more Site Operational experience preferred.
  • 2+ years or more Office-based management experience required.
  • Domestic and International travel 5-15% required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Anticipated base salary range: $143,000 - $168,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
