The Senior Financial Systems Specialist is a key player within the Finance team and is responsible for managing Company's Workday ERP Finance system and future finance tools. This position will be a hands-on subject matter expert in Workday Finance. The position requires that the candidate have both a strong financial background and experience in system implementation, configuration, integration, and administration. You will be the principal interface between Business Transformation, IT and Finance for our global ERP and financial tooling. This role will support the business needs of North American and European users.
Key activities include oversight of the different financial functional areas in Workday, and management and maintenance of key areas such as FDM and Financial Accounting. The position will work closely with the Corporate accounting teams, senior leadership team, and business leaders providing financial, strategic, and ad-hoc support as needed. The position will report to the Senior Manager, Consolidations.
This role will be based in our Toronto Head Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for global configuration decisions, business processes design, and ongoing maintenance in the Workday ERP Finance environment
- Support bi-yearly Workday release including testing, documentation, and training users on new features and enhancement
- Support the business and be the finance representative in deployment of finance IT tools and projects
- Integrate Northland projects (legal entities) within the Northland ERP System Workday
- Coordinate with other departments with cross application configuration and processes
- Maintain reports inventory and create new custom reports when required
- Develop and recommend policies and standard operating procedures to ensure proper control and system effectiveness
- Management of the system; including controls, enhancements, improvements, and documentation
- Provide technical/functional expertise and serve as subject matter expert for the different Workday modules
- Train and develop financial staff to better utilize the system and system related reports
- Perform functional configuration and enhancements, system maintenance and business process testing for ERP maintenance, which includes managing custom fields, forms, records, workflows, searching and reporting, and user roles to support business requirements
- Provide oversight, technical support, and change management of ERP platform, including data governance and assessments to improve financial system processes

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or related professional equivalent
- Experience with Workday Finance in Subject Matter Expert and administrative roles. Workday Pro certification desirable.
- Experience with Oracle EPM is a plus
- Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Able to prioritize workload and execute tasks independently
- Experience in analyzing system requirements, writing functional specifications, conducting data tests, troubleshooting issues, and interfacing with business users
- Good understanding of finance & accounting concepts. Accounting designation good to have.
- Motivation to lead positive change throughout the organization
- Experience with Adaptive Planning is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong in business English
