Job Description

This HR Generalist will focus on support to the HRBP and Recruitment team, and advances VEIC's clean energy mission by delivering high-quality HR services across a multi-state, hybrid workforce. Embedded within a Centers of Excellence (COE) model, this role partners closely with HR Business Partners and fellow People and Culture COE teams to support day-to-day HR delivery and talent acquisition efforts that attract the people who drive our impact.

Essential Functions

Talent Acquisition (Primary)

  • Posts open positions across internal and external job boards ensuring job postings highlight our climate mission and the impact of our work.
    • Sources candidates using inclusive, equity-centered strategies that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
    • Coordinates and participates in phone screens and panel interviews for hybrid teams across both office locations (Winooski, VT and Washington, D.C.) and remote employees in other states.
  • Develops mission- and competency-aligned interview questions and evaluation tools with hiring managers and HRBPs.
    • Coordinates candidate communications and ensures a positive, transparent, and engaging experience that reflects our organizational values, while building genuine rapport.
    • Ensures compliant, well-organized documentation and consistent hiring practices across all states, following guidelines as applicable.
    • Working in the applicant tracking system (ATS), prepares monthly recruitment analytics (pipeline activity, time-to-fill, sourcing effectiveness) and collaborates with HR COEs on improvements.
    • Tracking recruitment sourcing for effectiveness and managing employee referral bonus program.
    • Supports offer preparation, pre-hire steps, and onboarding for employees joining hybrid teams and office-based roles.

HR Business Partner Support

  • Partners with HRBPs on initiatives such as employee engagement activities, performance processes, employee announcements, and organizational updates.
  • Provides timely, accurate frontline HR support to employees and managers, escalating matters to HRBPs as needed.
  • Supports employee lifecycle transactions such as promotions, transfers, and terminations ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Assists with employee relations documentation and tracking in collaboration with HRBPs.
  • Coordinates with COE teams on cross-functional initiatives.
  • Organizes HR materials such as interview guides, job descriptions, and process documentation.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline processes in collaboration with COE partners.
  • Supports performance management, goal setting, trainings, and culture programming via employee communications, scheduling, presentation development, reporting, and other tasks as needed in collaboration with CEO partners.
  • Contributes to HR projects that support organizational culture, workforce effectiveness, and the success of our clean energy mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Location

This is a hybrid position. The ideal candidate will be located in Vermont and willing to come into the VEIC Headquarter Office in Winooski at least one day/week with other HR Team Members.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years' experience in Human Resources and Talent Acquisition, or similar experience supporting a workforce and coordinating recruitment efforts.
  • Working knowledge of talent acquisition best practices and multi-state considerations.
  • Comfort working with distributed/remote team dynamics, balancing competing priorities and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong relationship and teambuilding, clear written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with teams across states and a wide range of disciplines.
  • Possess active listening skills and empathy with an inclusive mindset.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities, bringing versatility and curiosity to the work.
  • Organizational skills and accuracy in documentation and follow-through.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive or confidential conversations with discretion.
  • Experience with HRIS and ATS systems (ADP and Lever, preferred).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This position primarily involves desk-based work with extensive collaboration and communication responsibilities. Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to remain stationary at a workstation for extended periods (typically 6-8 hours per day with regular breaks)
  • Regular use of computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone/headset requiring fine motor skills and repetitive hand/wrist movements
  • Visual acuity to view digital screens, documents, and presentations for prolonged periods
  • Verbal communication abilities are sufficient for clear articulation during in-person and virtual meetings, presentations, and discussions
  • Auditory capabilities to participate effectively in conversations, conference calls, and virtual collaboration sessions
  • Cognitive focus for simultaneous management of multiple communication streams, projects, and stakeholder relationships
  • Occasional movement between meeting spaces, collaboration areas, and individual workstations
  • Minimal lifting requirements (typically under 15 pounds) for office supplies, equipment, or materials

Travel Requirements

No Travel Required

This position does not require regular travel. Occasional in-person attendance at company events or meetings (typically 0-2 times per year) may be encouraged, but participation is often optional or available virtually.

$68,000 - $73,000 biweekly

At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. Please discuss your intended work location with the recruiter for more information. The total compensation package for this position also includes a full range of medical benefits, 403(b) eligibility with match, Combined Time Off (CTO), Care and Concern leave, Parental leave, wellbeing benefit, a community service day, and eight paid holidays that are effective as of your first day of employment.
