Job Description

Working within the Contract Management Team in SPD, the successful candidate will support the management and operation of live framework agreements, ensuring effective monitoring and governance across all active frameworks.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Framework Agreements, SPEN Operations, ED2 requirements, procurement processes, and legal forms of contract. A working knowledge of SAP and PowerBI is desirable. A commercial or finance background would be advantageous, along with the ability to analyse framework utilisation, scrutinise performance data, and provide insightful reporting and feedback.

The team is responsible for a diverse portfolio of service framework contracts across SPD, with an overall value of approximately £900 million. This is a dynamic role requiring the ability to manage a broad range of issues that arise on a daily basis, with regular engagement across the business and with external contractors.

The role involves close interaction with operational teams, project managers, senior management, and supply chain partners. While the framework portfolio is primarily focused on engineering, construction, and related services, it also encompasses a variety of other contract types. An understanding of SPEN's network operations, asset base, and typical business activities would be highly beneficial.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and drive continuous performance improvement through the analysis of operational outputs, performance data, and feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage proactively with internal and external customers to support the delivery of effective communication and the successful management of service framework contracts.
  • Develop and implement robust improvement plans for service framework contracts, focused on enhancing operational delivery, efficiency, and value.
  • Develop, maintain, and continually enhance reporting systems covering costs, budgets, financial forecasts, and performance metrics, including the preparation and presentation of management reports.
  • Support the Live Framework Team by coordinating governance activities, recording and distributing meeting minutes, and maintaining effective document control processes.
  • Identify, investigate, resolve, and escalate contractual issues where appropriate, ensuring timely and effective outcomes.
  • Manage contractual relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure effective contract administration and performance management.
  • Review and evaluate framework agreements, including the allocation and management of risk between SP Energy Networks and contractors.
  • Represent SP Energy Networks at internal and external meetings, building effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of personal development, maintaining and enhancing professional knowledge and capabilities.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment by encouraging involvement in the identification and implementation of solutions where performance targets are not being achieved

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge of service frameworks and their application in the field as well procurement tender process including tender documentation
  • Knowledge of various standard terms and conditions applicable to framework contracts
  • Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels
  • Ability to negotiate effectively at multiple levels to achieve the best outcome for SPD mitigating commercial risks
  • Strong PowerBI understanding
  • Ability to manage competing priorities using sound technical and financial judgement to determine optimal solutions
  • Awareness and understanding of key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SPD is operating
  • Contract & SLA management and general commercial & regulatory awareness with the ability to balance customer service, operational delivery and efficient financial performance.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
  • Expert knowledge of analytical and quantity surveying techniques is desirable
  • A working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and policies
  • A working knowledge of financial control procedures and systems

Minimum Criteria

  • Proven project and contract management skills.
  • Computer literacy including SAP and PowerBI
  • Professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of framework contracts in SAP
