Berater für Provisionen (m/w/d)

As our Broker Commissions Advisor, this role is responsible for providing advanced subject matter expertise, process oversight, analysis, and cross-functional support for broker commission payments and related utility commission activities. The Advisor ensures timely and accurate broker payments, maintains data integrity and financial controls, evaluates commission exceptions and non-standard payment requests, and partners with Sales, Accounting, Finance, Operations, IT, and external software vendors to resolve complex commission issues. This role also serves as a key resource for system enhancements, reporting, reconciliations, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives, while ensuring broker commission transactions are properly validated, documented, approved, and recorded. This position is based in Houston, TX, and reports to the Director, Commissions and Cash Applications.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for broker commission calculations, payment plans, broker statements, true-ups, claw-backs, net negative balances, and exception handling
• Lead and coordinate team activities to achieve departmental and organizational objectives
• Act as the primary point of contact for Broker Master Data requests, ensuring timely processing and compliance with established internal controls
• Review, validate, and analyze broker commission data from ENGIE source systems and broker commission software to ensure completeness, accuracy, and data integrity
• Process, review, and support monthly broker commission payment cycles, including scheduled payments, out-of-cycle payments, expedited requests, broker bonus payments, and repayment plans in accordance with Delegation of Authority requirements
• Research and resolve complex broker commission discrepancies by partnering with Sales, Accounting, Finance, Billing, Operations, IT, and external software vendors
• Prepare commission reconciliations, variance reporting, control reports, broker financial position analyses, and other reporting needed to support financial accuracy and audit readiness
• Support system enhancements, data migration, product changes, market changes, and future-state process design impacting broker commissions
• Evaluate exception requests for operational feasibility, financial exposure, system constraints, documentation completeness, and alignment with approved commission policies and controls
• Maintain clear documentation of approvals, support materials, decision rationale, and audit evidence for broker commission activities
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to analysts on complex commission issues, data research, reporting methods, and process execution
• Develop and recommend process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, broker experience, internal controls, and cross-functional service delivery

What You'll Bring

• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, related fields, or in lieu of a degree ten (10) years of experience in retail energy
• A minimum of seven (7) of progressive experience in commissions, finance operations, sales operations, accounting, billing, retail energy, or related analytical roles
• You have a strong background in accounting, finance, commissions, sales operations, or retail energy, with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes and recommend practical solutions
• You have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, data analytics, reconciliations, and macros, with experience using SQL, Power BI, SAP, and/or broker commission systems strongly
• You are knowledgeable in broker commission payment structures, retail energy contracts, billing data, payment timing, true-ups, clawbacks, and net negative concepts
• You have the ability to interpret and consistently apply policies, approval requirements, and internal controls to commission payment activities while maintaining accurate documentation and audit readiness
• You are an effective communicator with strong attention to detail, follow-up, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to explain complex commission issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You are reliable, accountable, and ethical, with strong professional judgment and the ability to work independently, influence without direct authority, and collaborate effectively across Sales, Finance, Accounting, Billing, Operations, IT, and vendor teams

Additional Details

• This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy, with 3 days in Houston office and 2 days remote
• Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Compensation

Salary Range: $88,800 - $136,045 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
