Become a key architect of the renewable energy revolution by joining the OT Competence Center at European Energy. We are seeking an experienced OT System Architect to drive initiatives in our OT infrastructure, bringing technical solutions for access management, infrastructure operation, and risk-informed engineering to a best-in-class level.

The Role

As the OT System Architect, you will play a crucial role in guiding the technical development within OT with your expertise. You will drive initiatives to ensure compliance, enhance security, and enable operational excellence on new and existing assets across all core technologies. Reporting to the Head of OT, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to develop and implement robust infrastructure for network, access management, and risk-aware integration of IT and OT.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce technical solutions to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations such as CIS18, NIS2, and IEC62443.
  • Design, implement, and manage Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions in collaboration with our IT Operations team to enhance security on plants.
  • Provide technical assessments and professional input, contributing to choices of future technology and software for OT infrastructure.
  • Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of OT devices and control systems, in collaboration with the network infrastructure department.
  • Support colleagues on commissioning and troubleshooting tasks and gather information to continuously improve relevant systems.
  • Perform risk assessments for threat-informed design and retrofits. Coordinate solutions with Enterprise CM and resilience teams.
  • Contribute during internal and external audits.

About You

You are an experienced professional with a background in engineering, IT, or automation, preferably with experience working with energy systems or process plants. With a minimum of 5 years of experience in OT or related fields such as SCADA engineering or building automation, you possess hands-on expertise with PLCs, RTUs, SCADA software, and similar systems. You also bring:

  • Proficiency with the OSI model and experience troubleshooting network issues.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial protocols such as IEC61850, IEC60870, Modbus, and OPC UA.
  • Data processing skills in Python or similar.
  • Certification or extensive knowledge of industry frameworks such as IEC 62443.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • A driver’s license for a passenger car.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; proficiency in Danish or German is a plus.

You will drive standardization, documentation, and recovery planning within OT, so you have a holistic mindset with an ability to quickly grasp new technologies and systems. You are adept at communicating complex OT and security concepts to diverse audiences and are patient and persistent in achieving long-term goals. Your ambition and team-player approach, combined with your experience, make you a perfect fit for this pivotal role.
