Contact Information

Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Regional Health & Safety Specialist reporting to the Health and Safety Manager - Asset Operations, where you’ll provide Health and Safety (H&S) support and advice to all Solar, Storage and Private Wire operational assets, with primary focus on supporting business H&S needs with some Environmental and Quality system crossover responsibilities.

Applicants will ideally be located in the Banbury area of the UK, where the role will be active in visiting assets (Solar Farms and Battery Energy Storage Sites (BESS)) across the UK, promoting a Zero Harm H&S culture while establishing strong professional relationships with colleagues and Contract Partners out in the field-based businesses.

What you’ll be doing

You will maintain the highest levels of H&S to comply with all statutory and legal requirements in addition to the following:

  • Encouraging and driving forward safe working practices at all times and oversee and assist the deployment of all H&S procedures in the company.
  • Acting as a role model for health and safety, environment and quality and encouraging setting highest standards ensuring they are benchmarked as part of continual improvement.
  • Provide assistance in creating a working environment where H&S is seen as a fundamental priority and individuals take responsibility for their own actions.
  • Providing support and advice across Major Component Replacements (CDM) activity
  • Take a lead in delivery of emergency exercises and drills across the portfolio of operational assets.
  • Ensure the monitoring and comprehension of the local HSMS management system.
  • Contribute to the risk management process for risks generated by the company's activities (risk evaluation and prevention plans).

What do you need to be great at this role?

You’ll be well educated and qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent and have appropriate Engineering, Construction or Renewables experience and be a member of IOSH working towards being a Chartered member in addition to:

  • Demonstrable experience in H&S positions, preferably renewable energy (Solar/BESS)
  • Be able to provide practical H&S advice, assistance and support to field teams and Contract Partners
  • Effective English written and verbal communication skills, on a one-to-one basis as trainer or coach pitched at all levels of the business.
  • The ability to influence behavioural and culture change with emphasis on driving H&S operational activity.
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with site staff at all levels, including the ability to influence behaviour by reasoned challenges and discussion.
  • Good understanding of safe systems of work including HVSR (High Voltage Safety Rules)
  • Have competence as a trained risk assessor across the full range of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and hazard analysis systems.
