Job Description

Development Projects

• Early project phase investigations, feasibility assessments, design optioneering studies, value engineering, risks and safety (including Safety in Design).
• Participate in project constructability reviews including site based and desktop assessments.
• Providing formal review and in some cases formal approval of detail designs of the energy projects.
• Support project CAPEX and construction schedule development for project financial investment decisions
• Design and design supervision of all energy projects civil & structural infrastructure layouts including turbine foundations, erection hardstands, access and public roads, substation & construction benches and equipment support structures.
• Scoping of detailed design, geotechnical-, hydrology-, hydraulic- & topographic investigation activities with interpretation and approval of the designs and reports.
• Managing contractors for early investigation of hydrology, geotech and topography – meetings, site visits, reviewing data and approving final reports.
• Engage with the wind farm, solar farm, and BESS stakeholders.

Delivery and Construction

• Develop and maintain civil engineering designs and specifications for projects, including review of design inputs from external consultants and contractors.
• Develop tender specifications and scopes of work and assist with the negotiation of procurement agreements for civil & structural infrastructure works.
• Perform engineering due diligence reviews and design management for design works outsourced to external consultants/contractor, including Safety in Design review.
• Undertake technical leadership roles in project delivery teams.
• Provide Issued for Construction sign-off in compliance with Australian Standards.
• Provide support to project Construction teams, including the following:
  • Responding to request for information and provide engineering support in resolving construction issues related to the implementation of the civil and structural design
  • Participating in safety, quality and environmental meetings as required ensuring the implementation of any identified recommendations.
  • Attend site to support the construction team as required.
  • Providing technical advice and support throughout all phases a project.
  • Complete project documentation for handover to O&M personnel upon completion.

Operations

• Provide technical advice on civil engineering failures or incidents.
• Provide technical advice for upgrades or modifications to operational infrastructure.

Required Skills and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Significant experienced (10+ years) in a technical role preferably with experience in the design and construction of wind farms, solar farms and/or BESS Projects.
• Chartered Status, National Engineering Register and RPEQ qualified or eligible to apply.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary design and construction management team.
• Experience in contractor management and a commercial acumen
• Strong technical specification and scope writing skills.
• Effective communication skills and a strong focus on developing and maintaining strong client & customer relationships.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel.
• Current Australian driver’s license.
