They are responsible for technical planning of the project for the purpose of finding out and planning the construction procedures and means of production necessary, the external ambiguities and conditioning factors, the most appropriate order for performance of the work and the partial deadlines and final deadline for completion of the work. They study the steps of the construction work defining the measurements for each of them, the means of production that will carry them out, performance and timetable for completion. They also establish priorities among the different activities.
Job Description
- Interpretation of the tender budgets and reference designs and the application of the cost control/quantity surveying techniques to measure designs as they progress through design gates.
- Managing budgets by overseeing expenditure, conducting regular reviews against plan and budget and taking corrective actions
- Development and implementation of cost planning, procedures and processes
- Lead the project teams and functional teams to collaborate and provide accurate program and project forecasting information
Required Skills and Competencies
- Advanced skills as a Quantity Surveyor/Engineer within infrastructure/construction/ resources industries
- Skill in quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and development of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
- Detailed understanding of the tender (methodology, costings and constraints), contractual agreement, including cost control and planning
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Law, Commerce, Accounting, Quantity Surveying, Business, or other associated disciplines
