Our Role

Our office based in Darwin currently has a great opportunity for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to lead the control systems team for projects including PLC, RTU, DCS & SIS systems; design, programming, site acceptance testing and ongoing support. We are looking for an experienced Senior Controls Engineer that has a strong background in the Power Generation industry with experience covering Generators, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Renewable and Micro-Grid control systems & instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing control system and electrical engineering design packages including drawings, specifications, schedules, execution plans and FAT/SAT.
• Programming control system logic, factory testing and simulation, software development.
• Managing team of engineers, scheduling work activities.
• Managing turnkey projects; project management, stakeholder management.
• Available to travel for site commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Provide appropriate and timely support to Clients regarding control systems.
• Available for on-call remote support roster.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Writing reports and documentation.
• Provide Senior Engineering review of internal documentation and specifications.
• Mentoring Graduate & Junior Control Systems Engineers.

Essential Selection Criteria

• Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering certified by Engineers Australia.
• At least 7 years’ experience in control system engineering field including design.
• Experience with variety of PLC, DCS, RTU and telemetry products from various manufacturers.
• Experience with industrial communications protocols including Modbus, DNP3, IEC-104 and IEC61850.
• Demonstrated experience working in Power Generation Industry.
• Demonstrated experience with BESS & Renewable control systems.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and strong initiative.
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures.

Desirable Selection Criteria

• Qualified Safety Instrumented Systems Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience with High Voltage, Substation and protection systems.
• Demonstrated experience with Steam or Gas Turbine control systems.
• Demonstrated experience with Process Instrumentation.
• Certified in Project Management.
• Charted Professional Engineer.
