Business Development Manager Renewables & Thermal Power
Lead and coordinate business development activities in renewable energy projects globally. Requires Master's in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, 10 years of consulting experience, strong communication skills, and willingness to travel internationally.
Lead and coordinate the preparation and implementation of our proposals for the execution of complex technical assignments: due diligence, technical advisory, for different stakeholders such as Lenders, Sponsors, or Owners in renewable energies projects (biomass, PV, wind onshore, wind offshore, battery storage), hydrogen.
- Create market access in new geographies (e.g. CIS Countries, Africa, etc.).
- Increase our brand visibility, by proactively enhancing our market development and driving our sales narrative. You need to have a strong focus on sustainable solutions, guided by an impeccable ethical and moral compass.
- Define targets and coordinate goals within the broader context of AFRY’s Energy Division.
- Organize sales training for our project execution team.
- Identify and target business development on the broader market and "follow-on" sales opportunities in your projects, including project scoping and managing client interactions beyond the mere submission of a written offer.
- Lead, coordinate, manage and coach the team of our business development community, with teams located in Italy, Switzerland, India and the Middle East.
- Contract negotiations, where the balancing act between our contract, the project profit and our commitments to our Clients have to be taken into consideration at all times.
- Communicate appropriately with the client at the operational level and top management from different cultural backgrounds.
- Manage the entire proposal life-cycle, from first coordination with the Client, sales, up to closure capturing and disseminating lessons learned within the entire business development team.
- Travel internationally, as required by the business, across our covered geographies (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa).
YOUR PROFILE:
- You hold a Mechanical or Electrical engineer Master Degree, and have at least 10 years of professional experience with a Consulting Company, with an overlapping coordination role on project execution.
- You thrive on problems and situations for which there is no prior experience and can create valuable solutions effectively and efficiently. You are good at structuring unclear situations and ill-defined client problems into actionable tasks and projects.
- You make decisions, act proactively and on your initiative. No mentoring or coaching is required on your daily tasks.
- You are a good communicator and can reduce complex issues to understandable arguments and presentations for top management and employees. We pay utmost attention to structured and articulate writing and presentation skills; therefore, you are fluent orally and in writing business English. Additional languages such as Italian, German, Spanish, Arabic and French are a plus.
- You like a work environment where constructive conflict is sought openly and professionally to create better client solutions in a non-hierarchical way.
- Our projects might require, from time to time, working and traveling during weekend time. Hence, you are used to work under pressure, with tight deadlines, and have no objections to travel, as it forms an essential part of your duties.
- As part of your cultural and professional journey, you have worked with Clients based outside of Europe, and are aware of the cultural differences in different parts of the world.
