Research Associate (SSBT)

The SSBT team focuses on building energy modelling and simulation, decarbonization strategies for the built environment and R&D of green building technologies such as HVAC systems, lighting systems, building management systems and other novel solutions for the urban built environment sector. We seek a dynamic person with a Degree in engineering, sustainable buildings design or architecture, and a positive attitude to be a core member of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in SSBT projects involving industry partners, government agencies and/or external collaborators
• Perform modelling and simulation of HVAC/ climate control systems, building or district energy modelling and/or BIM modelling
• Technical analysis and research on decarbonization strategies for new and existing buildings, repurposing of buildings and/or construction related methods
• Carry out technical assessment of green building solutions aligned with BCA Green Mark criteria and carbon assessment frameworks
• Assist project team in deployment of instrumentation for testing and validation of green building solutions e.g. equipment or hardware/software systems

Job Requirements

• Master’s degree in engineering (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Clean/Renewable Energy, Building or IT related), sustainable buildings design or architecture
• Experience in sustainable design/analysis for the built environment, carbon assessment, Green Mark or LEED projects, M&E construction and development (min 2yrs preferred)
• Proficient in MS Office applications, BIM software, energy modelling or CFD software
• Should be a very hands-on person, willing to take on non-routine tasks
• Possess good communication (written and verbal) skills
• Able to manage multiple stakeholders and work under tight timelines
• Positive attitude, ability to work independently as well as in a team
